New York Rangers have a need this offseason to add in a top 6 caliber right winger or possibly a good 3rd line center and Matt Duchene could fill either role. The need depends on what the Rangers want to do with Filip Chytil long term as both of these players could play winger and down the middle.

I like how many state the Rangers need to start making moves which is very true but i would think young at the same time we saw what picking up players not needed has created. Prospects, think big, assess players last three years and don't be anxious in the picks. I still believe players picked from another team never end up playing as they did previously due to the different style of the new team but the again who am i to say.

If you watched the Panthers whoop our top lines, you will never suggest adding any 5'11" top 6 guy again. We don't need Goal Scorers. We need GRIT, especially on a line that seems to want the puck to come to them. Laffy got the memo, go get the puck yourself. Kakko and Chytil didn't, Roslovic actually outplayed all other forwards they used with K and Z. BTW, dont forget Brendan Orthmann who should make the team this year, at a much cheaper price, with 10 yrs less in age.
I think people need to chill out a bit. The Rangers won the presidents trophy without their 2/3C in Chytil all year as well as losing one of their RW's in Wheeler and Fox down with a lingering injury. They got to the conference finals with Fox hurt, Trouba hurt and no Chytil for the majority of the run and when he came back he wasn't himself. The Panthers got pretty lucky in their series with their goals and though the Rangers were outplayed they weren't being completely dominated. Right now the Panthers are shutting down McDavid and Draisaitl – 2 of the 3 best players in the entire NHL. The Rangers were very close and Lafreniere and the younger players will only get better. There's no real need to make MASSIVE changes to a team that could have made it to the final if some bounces go the other way. I think you just resign Kakko @ 2y 2.7, Schneider @ 2y 2.9 and make a decision on Lindgren depending on what he wants. If you can get him at >4.5 you think about it. Otherwise you can't afford him.
I've heard worse suggestions, but the cap situation makes anything other than a straight up HOCKEY trade difficult to do … otherwise you're left with having to make some sort of cap trade or buyout which more than likely will involve someone like Trouba and/or Kakko because I don't see them moving on from Lindgren and they're certainly resigning Schneider. Guys like Panarin, Kreider and Mika would be difficult, near impossible, to move … and of course the other issue is whether you're creating one hole in the lineup to fill another hole.
