Blues announce hockey operations succession plan



The St. Louis Blues hosted a press conference on June 13 featuring Tom Stillman, Doug Armstrong and Alexander Steen. It was announced that Armstrong has signed an extension to remain President of Hockey Operations through the 2028-29 season and Steen will take over as General Manager in 2026.

  1. I am well beyond ecstatic that Steener will be coming back in a more direct attachment to the Blues. Congratulations to him, this is well deserved after everything he has put into this club.

  2. Great to hear. Congratulations to Alexander Steen. I couldn’t think of a better person to be the Blues next GM. He’s as dedicated to the team as anyone out there. His willingness to play on the 4th line during the Stanley Cup year clearly showed he’ll do what’s best for the team.

    Great choices by the ownership team, Doug Armstrong, and steener. You’ve see the bar for establishing expectations, making decisions, and communicating with the fan base.

    Will Doug be the next commish? If I were an owner, I’d appreciate the choices he’s made. He doesn’t have the legal side, but every good manager has a good chief legal guy.
