Would be nice to see next season. Swap out Reilly for McCabe on second pair and put McCabe on 3rd pair with Benny and let go of Lily if we get Theodore

I live in soflo and every panthers fan wants a pass on montour. He was incredible last playoffs but is not the same player anymore. Might be the shoulder.

Ehh. I mean Montour is good but I think it’s gonna be a significant overpay to get him. I’d rather go after Skjei as I think he could actually outperform Montour, but also I think he just won’t be quite as overpaid. It’s still free agency though.
Would also probably want Roy for similar reasons vs other options.

Theodore and Karlsson for Marner and we sign Domi and Edmundson I think both at a long term low cap hit and grab Toffoli and than Tanev, Brossoit as well. That’s a cup winning team

Roy + Montour would make me extremely happy. That’s about 11M in two top four defensemen, and that’s not including potential for another defenseman of we move Marner.
The defense’s puck movement and shooting skill needs a major overhaul and Montour is a very good start.

Terrible contracts will come from this but because of where the leafs are with there roster they NEED to sign defenseman. If they can get these two and make a trade for one more they could be sitting pretty when it comes to roster construction.

For me, I’d like to bring back Lagesson as depth and Gustafson (he seems more like Berube’s North-South style that he mentioned).
I think Kylington could have a breakout year in Toronto, but there’s risk there. A cheap deal would be great though.
I’d check in on Demelo’s health; one of him or Roy would be an upgrade and wouldn’t break the bank like the marquee players in free agency. Tanev could also play this role, but he’s probably played well enough to get paid too much or get a third year on this next contract.
Carrier I would not mind either in a top four role.
I do think Montour is best in the class but I worry that will lead to an overpay. I can also see Peace as being overpaid.
I hope we stay away from Myers or sign him for cheap. He’s been very overpaid and only really had a good year this past season.
