Technically 6M for a starting goalie is not really that much. It's just to much for the cap strapped Leafs though.
Calgary won't even pick up the phone if the leafs called….that bridge is burned.
They won’t do a deal with Calgary , if we do we will have to over pay and his 6 million cap isn’t going to work for the leafs

Markstrom is to old and to much. Leafs aren't trading any major assets for him, WTF would a team that isn't close to a cup contender do that.
Markstrom's salary too high for leafs. They would not be able to do much else. This assumes that Marner acts like the house party guest who refuses to leave at 4AM. Think Devils can offer a better package anyway. I think Woll is the guy going forward (reminds me of a young Carey Price), so let's hope he can stay healthy. If Devils get Markstrom, does that make Jake Allen available? Hmmm…

I don’t know, on one hand I just want the cap to go into better playoff performers in our overall top 12 forwards and top 6 but on the other hand a proven starter can take ya places.
I’m not sold on Marky though at the salary cap rate of 6 mill … I prefer Saros slightly

I do recommend people like and subscribe as he does have a good podcast. He not hollering, cursing and shooting off all the time and has good content in my opinion.
Leafs need another Curtis Joseph type of world class goalie….look at the Florida goalie…
For Leafs to get Markstrom, there has to be another team involved.
Ok you may talk about these guys that you want to come to the Leafs but you have to realize that the players have to want to come here first, if they dont want to be here they can make this team look even more shit then it is already, plus these guys want a Cup and they know the leafs will never get a cup again

The last year of Tkachuk in Calgary, they were viewed as a team 'built' for the post-season. The weak link that spring was Markstrom, who after a very good regular season was badly outplayed by Oettinger & Dallas in the 1st round. Calgary squeaked a game 7 victory in OT, no thanks to Markstrom. Then they got beaten in 5 by the Oil with Markstrom again subpar. He had a sustandard regular season the next year, so at 6M aav, to me he's another Freddy Andersen. No thanks.

Signing Stolarz or Brossoit, both of whom I like, to play as tandem guys with Woll makes the most sense to me. Their numbers are good, especially last season & they are both UFA's so no assets to lose to aquire either. Re-sign Jones to be a depth 3rd guy as he has expressed interest in coming back next season.
That solves the goal issue for at least 2 or 3 years assuming Woll can avoid injury. Woll's playoff start stats are 1.36 gaa & .953 save % in 4 games. Tiny sample size, but better than Andersen, Campbell & Samsonov. He just looks remarkably calm under pressure.
