Hyman crosscheck, Marchment embellishment – Have your say!

Zach Hyman was called for crosschecking to the back of Mason Marchment, but Marchment was given a penalty for embellishment. Did he go down easily enough to to be penalized? Have your say!

  1. I'm not sure why Marchment made zero effort to brace his fall. I think that's why he got the embellishment. He looks like he got sniped from the bleachers with the way he fell. Still, a soft call given how many dives they haven't called this postseason.

  2. I don't think he knew it was coming. Why would you allow yourself to do a face plant into ice?
I know these guys are pros, but sometimes they do get caught off guard.
If you're going to call Marchment for "Embellishment" you have to call Hyman for "Crosschecking" too.

  3. Looked like a clear crosscheck, as Marchment was moving backwards and Hyman clearly made his waist buckle…..but puzzling that Marchment would have sold it,

  4. I dunno about embellishment, that was a decent crosscheck to the small of the back, not sure how much embellishing went on there.

  5. The game is a joke these days … we saw what diving in the Vancouver series did … pushing it to 7 games.
Silovs dive when McDavid was pushed into him , 100% embellishment, and it worked. So when you have players doing this, and getting away with it, thats enough encouragement to do it again. That was so weak .. he fell like he was shot in the spine. He skated on his own to the box. That was pathetic.

  6. Defensemen have been putting people on the ice without a whistle all post-season. As an Avs fan, I watched Lehkonen and others get cross-checked every time they had the audacity to stop skating near the goal – sometimes in the pads, sometimes clearly above the pads. At least the puck was nearby for this one, call it CrossChecking if you want but I think the whistle probably blew for Interference as Marchment didn't touch it.

  7. The laying on the ice like he was shot is a bit much but definitely a clear cross check that would knock someone to the ground.

  8. Defo a crosscheck & are they hamming fouls up a little cos the refs are missing fouls or supa-reluctant to call them in the play-offs?

  9. Cross checking only. Embellishments are a cop-out often. Similar to the Ryan nut-spear on Hoglander: seems like the ref didnโ€™t want to disadvantage one team, so he invented an interference call on Hogie to even it up. I donโ€™t see embellishment, tbh.

  10. this is the definition of a cross check if the guy went down easily or not. Two hands on the stick directly across the lower back. Why are you two handing a guy with your stick from behind anyway?

  11. Clearly a crosscheck, should be a 2 min penalty 100 times out of 100. Doesn't matter if he tried to sell it or not, there was a clear contact.

  12. That wouldnt knock a Peewee over – Marchment embellished big time. Hockey has gotten so soft. It's turning into soccer. Players are flopping to get the attention of the refs.

  13. Hockey is a contact sport! Have you folks not watched what goes on in front of the net? Even goalies are hitting the opposing players in the back and there are no calls. If Hyman would have hit him with his shoulder you cupcakeโ€™s would call it charging.
