  1. Hoping this isn't just a repeat of the 2021 Habs victory against Lighting and the Oilers can actually claw their way back.

  2. Oilers fans are effing great…80s Isles-esque. They show Canucks fans are just band wagon, latte-drinking, real estate flipping dooshbags.
And they won't burn down their own city if they lose in 7, either!

  3. Shannon, do you think, even if the Panthers win the series in 6 or 7, that there's any chance McDavid is in the conversation for the Conn-Smythe?
It hasn't happened since 2003 that the losing team had a player win the Conn-Smythe, but if McDavid is out here breaking Gretzky records, shouldn't there be a conversation?

  4. Woke up this morning and decided to look into some stats.

Teams down 3-0 going into game 4 have won 7 times before tonight. Note that the 7-game finals started in 1939, as 1938 was a 5-game series. So that's 84 years of Cups in that stat. Only 7. In those 7 games, teams have won by 2 goals 4 times. 2 of those 4 times the 2nd goal was an EN. Twice the winning goal was scored in OT. 4 of those series ended in game 5, including both of the OT winning games. One series (2012) went 6, two series went 7 (1942 and '45, both won by the Leafs from both sides of the equation).

Never had any of those teams won game 4 by more than 2 goals.

Here's the full summary, including last night's game:

    2024 – FLA-EDM 8-1 EDM
    2021 – TBL-MTL 3-2 MTL OT 5 Games
    2012 – NJD-LAK 3-1 NJD EN 6 Games
    1981 – NYI-MNS 4-2 MNS 5 Games
    1957 – MTL-BOS 2-0 BOS EN 5 Games
    1946 – MTL-BOS 3-2 BOS OT 5 Games
    1945 – DET-TOR 5-3 DET 7 Games
    1942 – TOR-DET 4-3 TOR 7 Games TOR
    1938 – Best of 5

We're in uncharted territory. Let's see what this does to the Oilers and, maybe more importantly, Panthers.

  5. When the panthers were up 2-0 EVERYONE was saying the goal was to split in EDM. Well, last I checked they split.

So, kinda wondering why the narrative is that EDM is back? The Panthers are exactly where any team would dream of being in a 7 game series and you freakin YouTubers and media people are acting like it’s something to watch now.

  6. When Florida went up 2-0, I knew that Edmonton would have 1 game at home where they played like themselves, which would allow Florida to win it in game 5 at home.

  7. Holy damn oilers fans. I wanted to see a series but you guys are completely insane. You did not figure out anything you had a good game let’s talk when you get 2 wins. Cats in 6

  8. Shannon i agree with you 💯 percent on potential pressure change if Oil can come through on what will be their toughest challenge of the year

  9. I still think the Panthers win it, unfortunately… However if there is a team that COULD come back and win 4 straight to pull out a cup victory, it's the Oilers.

  10. @thehockeyguy my wife brought up and interesting question. How does one become the come CUP bearer? With what we seen last night the current has been at the helm for 30 years. We think it might be a interesting topic to discuss about the history of the position and its complete duties.

  11. The only thing more insufferable than Oiler fans is people saying the Panthers threw this game on purpose to win at home. Team's at this level playing for the cup, especially a team that learned what it takes to get here last year, aren't throwing games on purpose and potentially letting the other team back into the series just so they can win it at home.

  12. This has been a pretty amazing season for Edmonton. Didn't they go from near the bottom of the standings to near the top in one run of wins that set a new record for consecutive wins? I feel if any team could come back from a 3 game deficit, this seasons Edmonton team could. And I'm not a fan of either team.

  13. The panthers have showed their best. Not impressive. The oilers have yet to show their best.

Pizza/gift wrapped goals by Florida all series.

  14. I can’t wait for the nut jobs to start saying that the NHL controls the outcome of games or the season. Mark my words… mind numbingly dumb people will be saying it.

  15. Although I'm kind of rooting for the Panthers in the Finals, I don't have a dog in this fight.
What I was really hoping for is that we'd get a long, back and forth series.
It's good we finally got to see some life out of the Oilers.
Maybe they can make this thing interesting.

  16. If the game wasnt thrown why would bob be laughing and having fun on bench? A goalie would be intense/angry/stern if hes pulled in finals.. thats kinda fishy.. panthers are toying with their prey it seems.

  17. Losing by 7 should be an automatic disqualification. The Panthers should be investigated for fraud. They probably just want to sell more tickets.

  18. Here is my take and what should be done.. haha.. I watch baseball doesn't mean I should give an opinion
