  1. Perfect fit for him …Nj Devils….Columbus retains 25% and we send Columbus Palat with a close to even swap on Salary. Columbus gets a solid experienced veteran and the Devils get a sniper fir Jack Hughes.

  2. I'd be happy to see the Habs take a chance on him in a second line role with Dach. Send Anderson back there + 27th overall pick.

  3. I think there is a real chance that the Chicago Blackhawks grab Laine. There will be very few teams that will even offer a trade worth much. His cap hit and his reputation around the league aren’t great. Hawks are one of the only teams that can offer to take the whole contract with no retention. Gotta think CBJ would love to have that $8.5M freed up off there cap.

  4. I know the Habs want him but what do they want from Habs. Other problem is the new GM, Waddell, but I think it was more of the owner than the GM with the whole offer sheet thing between them.

  5. Laine should go to KHL. He’d be the star he was meant to be over there.
I wish him well wherever he goes.

  6. I honestly feel like vancouver is the place for him. Boeser dealt with his dads death recently as well. Petterson needs a good winger and tocchet turned boeser and Miller into 2 way guys. Laine could be his next project.

  7. I realize it's a very diminutive point to make, but…Patrik Laine is more (when he is himself and thriving) than just numbers and the #1 one timer shot on the planet. He brought friggin Magic to the NHL the first couple of seasons. The stuff that fans want to see. Sure, he seems to have some personal issues, but could one also argue it's too bad the league as a whole could not effectively administer such a unique talent?
Heck do I know, I'm just a lowly Finnish hockey fan 😀 (since the 1960's). The only team sport in the world that keeps me awake through the whole game. 😀 Will be really interesting to follow what's going to happen with Laine next season, if I live. Seems to me Utah would be a "fresh start", indeed. 🙂 He needs a good playmaker as a linesmate to feed him, though – that much is clear…

  8. As a Bruins fan I've thought about Laine as well. I would much rather have him than Debrusk, so if Columbus or a third team want to take half his salary I'd be fine with it depending on what they would have to give up. No way would Boston take on his entire salary though.

  9. NY Islanders? To give them some added firepower 5 on 5 (sheltered alongside someone like Horvat/Pageu) and on the powerplay. Sending Wahlstrom and Palmieri the other way with a mid round draft pick. Prospect, Salary Dump of a veteran to make room for the contract and then a draft pick to sweeten the deal.

  10. Let’s Go Jackets.

I firmly believe it will be Laine and a third going one way, and a guy worth 4m and a 2nd coming back.

The cap space going up about 4.5m allows for a guy to come back and for us to not have to just eat money, without the other team having to move a big player.

  11. Pls send Laine to Detroit. He would love playing there because they are coming up again. I could see him in the uniform now.

  12. Montreal rehabbed Monahan, they can rehab Laine!

Montreal can take the full cap hit too.

    Proposal:
    To MTL: Laine
    To CLB: future considerations
