Mikko Rantanen Scores On An Odd Man Rush To Extend The Lead
Watch as Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen squeaks the puck past goaltender Mike Smith after receiving a pass from Nazem Kadri on a 2-on-1 rush.
So Oilers goaltender is not helping his team…both shots from distance could have been.. should have been blocked by a full upright goalie…instead he drops into the common low stance, which opens the five hole, and more importantly, prevents rapid lateral positioning at the same time as leaving the top 1/3 of the net wide open. Seen a thousand goals from the low positioned goalie and yet the coaching staff does nada to deter it.
this was going to be a tough save for any goalie to make… the bigger problem for the Oilers was Bouchard committing too deep in O-zone and Keith randomly deciding to make a change and putting Nurse in a tough spot. The Oilers defense needs to play better if they're going to have a shot at winning this series.
