No one's talking about the ridiculous parallels to the Boston / Dallas Series.
1. Celtics were going up against an elite offensive team with Luca Doncic, the 2nd best overall player in the NBA in 2024 who nearly averaged a triple double this season & he has Kyrie Irving at his side. The Celtics obviously also have stars and a deep team / The Panthers are playing an elite offensive team with Connor McDavid who holds comparisons to the great Wayne Gretzky, and he's the number one overall player in the NHL with Leon Draisaitl at his side and a tough starting five.
2. Celtics had home court / Panthers have home ice.
3. Celtics won games 1, 2, & 3 / Panthers won games 1, 2 & 3
4. Celtics got embarrassed and had their asses handed to them in game 4 / Panthers got embarrassed and had their asses handed to them in game 4
5. Celtics put game 4 behind them, regrouped and rebounded in game 5, at home in front of their fans, exerted their dominance and won the Championship! It really (in a weird way) feels like we're playing the Celtics. Like we're the 1980 USA hockey team and the Celtics are the Russians. by which I mean… we are a team of mostly unknowns, meaning (not household names, with few exceptions, Barkov, Bobrovsky, Tkachuk etc…) compared to high profile players on the other side. it's such a great historic story-line between these two teams and these two match ups happening at the exact same time. In fact, they should all go home tonight and watch (my favorite) sports movie: "Miracle". That movie motivates me and I'm not a player.
