  1. If the Leafs don't move Marner, the window moving forward will be shut this coming season. Without a top end goalie and quality D-men next season will end exactly as it always does. Not a snowballs shot in hell they will find an success with the core four.

  2. What do you expect when they did not fire Shanahan !
Hey lets re-sign Marner and lose in the 1st round for 7 more years!

  3. Is it plausible since it is clearly an NHL tactic now to place Tavares on LTIR for a ingrown toe nail till playoffs for cap relief?

  4. you guys are saying mitch will get the money he wants
my question is, why? is mitch marner a 12m+ player? he hasn't ever gotten 100 POINTS in even a regular season, and he hasn't showed up for any postseason ever. please tell me how this is reasonable at all.
just compare other 12 million dollar a year players to mitch and its laughable. the guy probably should only make 7-8m a year

  5. I am 55 years old and a life-long Leafs fan. Don't hold that against me, I'm loyal to my hometown. But I'm so tired of watching them lose. They have lost in the playoffs every year they've made it. So I agree with Steve. I can't do it again. Marner has to go. Leafs need a massive upgrade to their D and goaltending nightmare. Or, more of the same.

  6. So we will ruin the TML if we trade Marner yet we have not won a cup in 58 years?
What reputation are they going to ruin ?

  7. Which general manager in the NHL would be so insane to give Mitch Marner a 13 million dollar contract for 8 years?

  8. Mitch is a successful regular season performer and a playoff disappointment.

Why not just extend Mitch’s Contract- so Marner no longer plays any Leaf Playoff Games? 😀 That should save the Leafs $2 Million to $3 Million per year.

  9. For a team to trade for Mitch or Tavares, they would want the Leafs to retain salary and thrown in either Knies or a first round draft pick. This is if you can find a team that Mitch or John will accept. This is Treliving a trade for change's sake.

  10. As a member of Leaf’s nation, I completely understand why Steve lost his 💩. I love this podcast for this reason as the Big Dogs are afraid with the exception of Hayes and O’Dog to raise concerns over inept leadership

  11. But Steve, think of the views you're going to get night after disappointing night doing LFRs. The Leafs losing is putting your child through college.

  12. Guy had good first years in Tampa and Ottawa and his teams got progressively worse the longer he stayed. Proof, 1st year in Tampa, 46 wins, 2nd year, 38 wins, 3rd year 13 wins fired halfway through the season with a losing record. First year in Ottawa, 44 wins, 2nd year, 28 wins, 3rd year, 22 wins…fired before his 3rd season ended. Same old same old.

  13. You could replace all of this Toronto talk about the Wild and Billy G the used Car Salesman. I feel your pain…

  14. “Biggest payday of his life”
His last contract was a lot more than he should have got if he has any self respect he should either keep at 11 or take around 9.5-10.. has he shown anything to prove he deserves a raise as an 11 million winger over the last 6 years?

  15. maybe a few soft drugs, mild medication, Steve…. nothing too potent 🙂 Or you could become a Habs fan 🙂 Trust me, you'll feel better.

  16. The looks on Jessie's and Adam's faces early in the video when Steve went off was priceless! Anyway, I'm not sold on Tre yet, but I think he is also posturing saying "ya know, I'd prefer to keep Mitch…" so that when he deals him he can be seen as someone who was basically forced to trade him.
But Leafs fans, we need to consider how it will feel if this is another Matthew Tkachuk situation, where we deal Mitch for a couple decent players and Mitch goes on to win a Cup with new team. Does Toronto want to be in the current Flames situation in a couple years?

  17. This obsession with Marner is another example of Leafs' Faithful missing the big picture. The most obvious flaw in the dispatching-Marner-cures-everything theory is that the Leafs cannot win a trade when every team in the league knows that it's being done – if that's the plan – in desperation.

  18. Hind sight is 20/20. It is clear that Ferris took advantage of Dubas during last Marner negotiation, Dubas bowed to the PR pressure as he was probly afraid for his job after the very public Nylander tough negotiation. This time, Ferris is trying to establish a "10M / yr is a good deal" public mindset before the signings of Guentzel / Reinhart / etc, it is likely none of them will even come close to 10M. Ferris is smart enough to know that once the "10M is a good deal" is set, 11M is not far away. Good god.

  19. Keep MM for the year. He won't waive his NMC? Fine.

Relaod next summer with 23 million in cap space just off of MM and JT. Plus the cap will probably go up by 3-5 million. Plus i think they will have other players off the books.

This year will be a wash.

MM has a no NMC. He holds all the cards. He earned that right six years ago.
