[Dreger] Credit Markstrom for allowing Cgy to expand trade discussions with other clubs. Calgary was given flexibility to see what the true market was. There were discussions with other clubs…Ott and Tor included. In the end the best deal was made with the Devils.

I never believed this goof
So what realistic options are there for goalies? Seems like Brossoit
Edit: if you’re gonna downvote I’d love to hear your opinions instead. It’s a genuine question, I’m curious.
Dreger pretending to be an insider
Would have been a hard offer to match cause the Leafs don’t have a 2025 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th…LOL.
A 2026 1st is worth a lot less than a 2025 1st so Leafs would have had to add an additional pick which we don’t have much of. This year’s pick is locked into the 23rd spot which is less valuable than a just a Top 10 protected pick. Plus, there is the Treliving tax apparently by the Flames.
I do like the fact we are talking about some of the better goaltenders available and not instantly going cheap.
I stopped reading at “Dreger”
Yea I don’t buy anything this guy tries to sell.
One year of Saros for one year of Marner. Let’s get it done.
Thanks Paul
Considering Markstom isn’t a Derren Ferris client I’m betting Dreger doesn’t know shit

Dreger is a puppet for player agents
Never been big on Markstrom tbh. Not disappointed in the slightest we “missed out” here.
If we’re going big game hunting on a goalie I want Saros.
Our options are pretty crappy it seems. I bet we start the year with another fingers crossed hopes and dreams type tandem like we’ve done since we let Andersen walk.
I’m a simple man. I see Darren “Paul” Dreger, I downvote.
Tre is known to make calls on ALOT of players. Him being on the leafs is gold for these “insiders” cuz they can just name drop Toronto a million times and get all the clicks.
I feel like we’re going to get Gustavsson from Minnesota
Not likely that Calgary would make a trade with the the Leafs anyways. Even if the Leafs were considered, they would have had to pay a higher price.
