  1. Am I excited about the deal? No, but I expect that I'd be even more unimpressed with how/how much it would take to replace him. Check right side D off the need list and move on to a winger for Petty and a 3C.

  2. Great hockey but the season is too long. This year for the first time since 2002 the NBA finals finished before the NHL winner will be decided

  3. imo this management group is the most competent that this organization has ever had and i'm excited about the trade deadline and the up coming season. guentzel will not cost a roster player, prospect or a draft pick. get him if he's willing to come to vancouver.

  4. I’m ok with this signing. Prime age RHD that compliments Hughes offensively.
However, they were both terrible defensively and were shut down majority of the playoffs. Hope to see some systems improvements defensively and offensively. Cause honestly that was embarrasing to watch 15 SOG games and clueless chemistry on the rush

  5. I love how everyone has forgot Boeser is Due next year and Hughes the year after, but even worse they have forgot OEL penalty is climbing to 4.76 million next year. There is no money at all to sign Guentzel or any other 9 million dollar player. but the media wants something to talk about so its Guentzel everyday.

  6. Until now, Hronek was a very expensive rental, so I'm glad they got this done without committing crimes against the salary cap. It's a compressed schedule between the end of the playoffs and the entry draft/free agency and teams are pretty obviously tired of waiting for the Finals to end, but I expect the NHL head office to be flooded with deals the day after the Cup is won. I feel confident of Canucks management to get the job done in the offseason, after years where saying that would have people wonder if my account had been hacked.

  7. With the talk of 2019/20 here – so bring in Toffoli (and Tanev if you want) – i'd be ok for Stecher on a low-cost/depth type contract as well.

  8. what's the love affair with Guentzel? he won't be on the top pp unit here, and under tocchet's structure he isn't going to perform or produce 9 million dollar numbers…find a 5 million dollar guy that can slot in on the 2nd line…

  9. Chris Tanev NEVER should have been allowed to leave. Markstrom should have been a trade. Toffoli should have been signed

  10. makes no difference if the free agents walk. They are all replaceable. zadorov joshua lindholm cole can all walk and it wont be a problem to replace any of them.

  11. I dont understand the logic that he needs his own pairing. I dont see anyone else to put with Hughes. Myers isnt an option in my opinion.
Having the best defensive pair in the league seems like good value.
I can seem on his own pairing when some of the young guns come up.
Jett Woo has taken his time but I think will be in and out next year. D Petty and Tom Wilander maybe the yeae after. With those young additions it would make sense.
