The goalie is coming up to make the play and Fiala is trying to avoid him but the contact does occur in the paint. I don’t like the call but I do understand it.
Honestly, the contact was inside the paint. That is a perfect call, and should be made more often, goalies get their space in the paint. You get inside that, you are going to the box. Great call.
The only part of Fiala's body that made contact with the goalie was his stick hand, which caused the helmet to come off and probably sold the call for the ref.

Good call. Goalie inside the crease gets his helmet knocked off when Fiala hits him the head with his stick. Fiala wasn't pushed in.

Can’t make contact with the goaltender (much less the goaltender’s head) in the crease. Pretty cut and dried.
