Blue Jackets are going to make the playoffs next year
Next season, the Blue Jackets will play their final regular season in Columbus. On April 13, 2025, John P. McConnell will sell the Blue Jackets to a Hartford-based group led by billionaire hedge fund investors Ray Dalio and Todd Boehly for $1.25 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Blue Jackets to Hartford. 3 days later on April 16, 2025, the NHL Board of Governors will approve both the sale and relocation of the Blue Jackets to Hartford in a 30-2 vote. As a result, the Blue Jackets will relocate from Columbus to Hartford to become the Hartford Whalers and play their home games at the XL Center beginning in the 2025-26 NHL season.
