Button assesses Flames’ return for Markstrom, Kings finding a taker for Dubois | Jay on SC

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to assess the Jacob Markstrom trade and share how he felt the Flames fared in the deal. Button also explains how surprised he was that the Kings were able to find a taker for Pierre-Luc Dubois coming off the season he had.

  1. PLD should be radioactive by now. Shedding Kuemper's $5.25M for an absolute albatross $8.5M in PLD, just doesn't make sense.

Maybe WSH has a buyer lined up to move him before July 1st. Some bottom feeding team that will eat that disgusting contract. Least, I hope they do, because that NMC is going to be a friggen boat anchor.

  2. Gonna guess before watching Button says CGY did great & that if Conroy could've got more he would've which is a terrible defense to a mediocre return but he says it for every CGY trade.

  3. Button is totally wrong, Calgary already did pass on a 1st round pick and a roster player for Tanev. Edmonton offered Calgary a 1st and Cody Ceci for Tanev. Conroy said no

  4. just when you thought the flames couldnt lose more games than the previous years. lol. top 5 pick coming up. but does it go to MTL ?

  5. Ol' Button been dipping into the Christmas egg nog a little early this year. Bilardi, Lafallo, Kupari, Pierre Luc Dubois and a second round pick for Kuemper? "Did an outstanding job?"

  6. Mark Strom was such a bitch towards the end of the year! Sucked it up, you signed the 6×6 year contract with a stupid no movement clause.

  7. The fact that we didnt give up any of our top prospects, had CGY retain salary on Markstrom, and have it be next years first rounder + top 10 protected is ridiculous. Kevin Bahl STINKS lol.

  8. Man, Calgary was so close to being Florida-light a few years ago, team could have been a wagon in the making, such a shame…

  9. From Washington’s point of view this is a classic case of subtraction by addition. Dubois has been a lazy, overrated, overpaid, selfish malcontent for years and will quickly make the Caps regret making this move.

  10. Leafs lose out on another pure #1 goalie… Markstrom didn't have the D he needed in Calgary, he was great in Vancouver. He would've been lit up like Victoria Day Fireworks had he actually been traded to the Leafs & their porous D and non-back checking 'Core Fore' (TM).
