We all knew it was a rebuild, and we all knew we needed a rebuild, but yes.

Were they not watching last season?

Hopefully they’ll manage the star talent properly this time instead of letting both franchise players walk away for nothing. Or maybe I’m ask too much.

In a few weeks, when the Flames sign a goalie like Samsonov, I can’t wait for the articles about how the Flames refuse to rebuild.

I truly don’t think this outright signals rebuild, with wolf knocking at the door for a couple seasons now it opens the door for him to take the next step and gives vlad a chance to bounce back and either be part of the future or an asset to flip

Pretty fucking obvious at this point

Didn’t Conroy say today that this team is still committed to competing for the playoffs?

Disagree. Huberdeau , Kadri . Weegar ,

I am not sure I agree. We still have Kadri, Huberdeau, Weegar, Backlund, Andersson, probably one more season with Mangiapane.
Additionally, we have $23m in cap space.
Wolf is a wild card…he lit up the AHL, his save% last season was .896 which isn’t bad for a handful of games in what was really his first real season (less one game the previous season), and we all saw our defense hang him out to dry more than once.
Depending on Wolf, and what we do with that cap space, this might very well be the “retool on the fly” that Conroy keeps talking about.

Y’all are gonna be so angry when it comes out that they’re going after Reinhart lol

This is about 2 decades overdue.
The time for rebuilding was about 2 seasons before Iginla left. Imagine what could have been if the Flames had done what needed to be done and moved Iggy and Kipper while they had real value but the club was clearly past the window?
Instead we were treated to the Flames endless ‘retools’ and ‘will they, won’t they’ make the playoffs each given year.
