Am I not a Devils fan or is it totally normal to have no fucking idea who Graeme Clark is.

  2. Management obviously didn’t rate Clarke that much, he’s had decent stats in the A but never really got a chance with the big club. No idea who Beckman is tbh.

Graeme truthers passing out as we speak

Was literally just on CapFriendly looking over shit and they already updated. Fuck the Caps

Also Beckman apparently played in a league called “SMAAAHL” which is hilarious

Thank goodness I’m not alone bc I felt bad about not knowing who our own player was lol.

Beckman lost his stick in that photo I guess

Seems like an even swap for 2 young players who had trouble breaking through the lineup with their clubs.

Probably the first call-up for a center from the AHL which I would much rather have than Chris Tierney

  8. Also worth noting, Clarke is from Minny. Could just be to help him out since he won’t be able to / hasn’t cracked our roster. Sucks though I remember regarding him highly

Clarke was born in Minnesota so hope he gets a chance to play for the wild.

Fitz has been really good at trading good young AHL players who can’t seem to take the next step and succeed in the NHL for…scraps. Walsh, Clarke, Markley.

Watch out Nolan Foote, you may be dumped for a bag of pucks soon.

We got our guy. Had to look him up and was surprised to see he played 11 games for the wild this year. I’ve never heard of him. Cool to see he has the same birthday as me, just ten years younger.

Trading the 80th pick in the 2019 Draft for the 75th pick in that draft. Fitz fleeces yet again!

I know I am getting old but could the player names be any smaller in that announcement? I can read the word Details from a mile away but had to work to see the names. It wasn’t difficult just annoyingly small compared to all the other fonts they used.

Just saw a Devils fan fall to his knees at a bagel shop

  15. Only 5 spots away in the same draft. Trading our Right Shot RW for a Left Shot LW. Apparently Beckman has a good shot, but so did Clarke. A balanced trade and a new chance for each.

Personally I always grouped Clarke in the same area as Nolan Foote and Brian Halonen. The only way they would crack the Devils would be as 4th liners, and I guess the organization just doesn’t see Clarke as someone who fits into that role as well as the other two.

Not a big fan but perhaps Beckman offers better upside on the defensive side of the game. Definitely need to see the scouting report on him.

🤷🏻 Neither guy realistically has an NHL future

Im guessing management sees this as a change of scenery trade but I dont really think we’re going to be winners of this one.

Dang I was behind Graeme Clarke in line at a butchers and he fell to his knees when this news was released 🙁

  21. No issue with this or these kinds of moves in general. Basically zero impact as far as the NHL ice goes, but we cannot ignore the minor league team either.

Sometimes two guys get swapped because both need a change of scenery; this also is just more good will that our front office is the kind who are willing to spend time and find ways to make lateral moves to get a guy like Clarke to a place where he might have a little better chance.

Best of luck to both Clarke and Beckman; hopefully both take bigger steps going forward than they otherwise would have.

    Wild fan here

About Beckman, he was touted as a “guy with an amazing shot.” However, he and several other prospects in Iowa got passed over by better players while they were here. He’s had several opportunities (mostly 3rd/4th lines), and it just never mattered. He didn’t amount to anything. His best chance was last year with the crazy injury bug, but when Ohgren scored as many points as Beckman in less time (2 points in 4 games as opposed to 16), the writing was on the wall.

He feels like “fringe NHL depth” at best. Maybe he’ll figure it out in Jersey, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
