No draft picks have ever been entitled to a automatic roster spot. I'll guarantee Mike he would never be entitled here under Bill Guerin. He's hoping the young guns come in and knock veterans out of their job.
It’s a new generation my friend a lot of these kids now feel very entitled. This is most likely going to be the new way of thinking for kids coming into organizations.
This crap goes all the way back to Eric Lindros.
To many coaches don't want to play young guys. John Hynes doesn't like playing young and fans here are so upset 24 years of mediocrity doesn't work in the state of hockey.
I’m an islanders fan. The Rutger situation seems like something Lou must pounce on. We want to get quicker younger, but also don’t have a lot of cap. Rutger will be on an ELC. Seems too perfect and Winnipeg probably won’t have much leverage to get a crazy return. Also seeing Okposo win a cup would be awesome and I do like the cats, but also the oilers winning for Ben would be cool to see as well. Should be an amazing game
It will be interesting to see what the Winnipeg Jets believe Rutger McGroarty is worth in a trade. My bet is that they vastly overestimate his worth and have difficulty finding a trading partner. Remember: McGroarty was a mid 1st-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft, certainly not considered one of the elite prospects in that draft. Solid prospect? Yes. Game-changer?? No.
LOL luv how the kids now think they can dictate what they want before they have ever played one game in the NHL. They have no respect for the teams or the league, and with that they don't belong in NHL.

The NHL team doesn’t think they are NHL ready, that’s fine, he decided (right or wrong….. ) that If hes going to keep developing, he’s doing it in the NCAA not the AHL
Would love Rutger on New Jersey and play with his Michigan teammates in Luke Hughes and Seamus Casey.
I would offer Winnipeg prospects chase stillman and Nolan Foote, Dman John Marino and the 2 picks back that they gave us for Toffoli- a 3rd this year and 2nd next year.

Im not sure if the new regime in Chicago would want a guy who doesn't fulfill commitments, but 18 and a second rounder would be decent compensation for the Jets. Better than nothing. They selected him at 14, so it isn't terrible. There's some good talent slated to be around at 18.
