  1. Hronek was a big reason why the team was good this year. He wasn't the only reason, but he was a massive addition to the team. Despite his prickly demeanor, Hronek wanted to stay long-term, and I think the contract was fair. Let's be honest, guys like Hronek aren't available very often, and Patrik got a top pairing right shot dman for a 1st. Who knows what Axel Sandin will be. He could be a top line dman, or he could be a guy who can't adjust to the NHL like Derrick Pouliet. Patrik took the risk out of a 1st round pick, and the team has a guaranteed player right now when the team needed a player like Hronek. I loved the trade when it happened, and I love the 8 year deal. Patrik has a plan, and so far, it looks like he knows what he's doing, and that's a far cry from what Benning brought to the table.

  2. Did some quick math, assuming . After the rest of the D is done and Siloves is signed we will have about 11.5-3 million left to spend on 3 or 4 forwards. Having Mikheyev gone would really help but im not sure how viable it is until the trade deadline. Acording to Lindholms agents that just enough to sign him…..

  3. I don’t think the Canucks can afford Guentzel anymore without moving Mikheyev. I hope they go after Toffoli and Bertuzzi, they would add some great depth.

  4. To be fair Florida has an underperforming Tkachuk but Canucks were also missing Demko along with the Petey problems so not directly comparable. Silovs was great but high 800 save percentage is just not the quality of goaltending we needed. If Florida didn't have Bob and were still not getting production from Tkachuk they may have gotten bounced as well. Not to mention Boeser going down…

  5. Sets the stage for Zadorov.

No shot at this valuation means Zadorov is worth 5M.

Zaddy is 4M- to high 4Ms ish at best, with term.

  6. You guys missed the point. The reason why we got production from the blue depth…is Adam Foote. Period.

  7. It feels like Hronek took a pay cut to stay with the Canucks long term which is amazing. Now the question is, will Zadorov take a pay cut and do the same?

  8. Pathetic they over paid to get him, now their are over paying to keep him, lets be honest hes a 6 million dman

  9. I like that he injured guys with his shot a couple of times this year, haha, he should have done that in the playoffs.

  10. Great signing, hope Zadorov signs also. And playoff Myers. How much Zadorov going to get 6 million, Myers 3 million. Doesn't leave much for a top 6 forward.

  11. Per his skills, it's probably high; per his icetime, and fit with Hughes, and playing 1st pairing position, then, it's a very good deal, and should age very well. This comes in about 1 million less than we were worrying about his "ask" price. That can go to a Zadorov, who can be paid a 2nd pair player with Soucy. Myers (damn, do we HAVE to re-sign this guy?!?!?) could at best play 3rd pairing, with anyone. I'd prefer not re-signing Myers, though… Whatever 'good' play he popped out with lately, he's blundered SO MANY TIMES, it's not worth it. Bring anyone else in as 3rd pairing.

  12. Wings fan here. I'm happy Hronek is having success and getting paid. It was a fair trade, but I wasn't sure we should have traded for him at the time and I'm still not. I'd still like like him on the Wings blue line, but what's done is done. Hodně štěstí Hronek!
