We know the Colorado Avalanche will have to play some cap gymnastics this off-season and possibly move a player they don’t want to move. We have discussed a couple of them on prior episodes. One name we haven’t brought up was Ross Colton. Frank Seravalli did in a recent article and it has us wondering and concerned it could happen.
We also give Josh Manson his season grade and have another discussion about why ESPN continues to show the NHL no love despite the league being in the Stanley Cup final they they themselves are airing.

I was just telling my son tonight at dinner that 20 and 28 were definitely coming back. What a coincidence.
ESPN did to itself what MTV did to itself.
Nobody has to get moved for Val, only if/when Captain returns, maybe. So COL has no deadline for a trade to cut salary unless they sign Drouin. But the Avs NEVER sign someone that forces a trade of a previous big commitment (G, Manson, or Ross); that's a VGK move. Likely, Drouin remains unsigned until GMCM gains clarity on Val (even after games begin). If any of 20/49/42 is moved first, it is G, who was signed by the prev GM. GMCM may be calling around "exploring all options" as he said, trying to gauge the market, but the Avs MO is not to do what FS is suggesting.
Hockey gets no respect from espn
I can safely say I have no idea what they’re going to do because there are just too many variables to predict. My only prediction is something I’m not expecting will happen and moving Colton would be unexpected, lol.

The Avs NEED a Ross Colton. The Avs already HAVE 4-5 other Girards. Save the extra $1M and MOVE GIRARD. Why is this so f***** hard for MacFarland? The Roaring 20s line was a revelation this year. Should keep the 3rd line together at any cost. How people put their blind faith in this dipshit of a GM I'll never know.

ESPN hockey coverage barely happens even when they are broadcasting a [censored] game, and even then, all they talk about is some new kid on the Blackhawks.
A certain local FM station does a much, much, much better job of covering hockey, speaking of traditional media formats.

I'd accept Colton being traded ONLY if the Avs somehow acquire the other Colton from Nashville but Mr Sissons appears to have an invisible NTC.
Guessing Girard out for Malinski. People will will underestimate the impact until Sammy G is gone and our transition has issues.
Manson was a B+ and our 2nd best defenseman this year, at times he got in his bag despite having an enforcer defenseman role. I think his puckhandling and managment was severely underrated. And offensively he had got nice shots off compared to our supposed 2nd best defender who fanned on countless shots.
I feel like with Ross… No way no how he gets moved. Unless for a as good or better player. Who would fill the 3c, PP etc? We have finally got at least our centers mostly figured out I don't see the avs doing anything to mess with that. Ross also was a winger so I suppose he could be available to go back to wing if another center came along. Too versatile. I will say this, my only complaint is he was more physical with his own teammates running into and injuring then he was on the other team. I cant remember who Cogs maybe and LoC but he ran into at least two of his own guys pretty hard that I can remember. Wrong place wrong time.
