  1. Genuinely the worst trade he's ever made, there is nothing that can justify having to trade a 2nd round pick and get nothing back for Walman

  2. Thereā€™s got to be more to this. Future considerations are going to involve some form of salary retention Iā€™m assumingā€¦.

  3. Heā€™s clearing todayā€™s and future cap space with players that will not be part of the future

  4. I don't think it's very baffling at all. We have a glut of D, and need to make space. We also may have a big fish in our sights, and Stevie is manning the harpoon. Time to slow our roll, take some deep breaths, and relax. I'm not saying it's a good move, but it's a move and there's likely a damn good reason for making it.

  5. The trade with Nashville was made to get the 2nd round pick, so it could be packaged to San Jose, so they would take Walman's salary. That money saved is going to be used to sign one or more of our free agents. That's the key to this deal. The "future considerations" are just a bonus. I'm guessing, some combination of Gostisbehere, Kane and/or Perron.

  6. Let him cook! Although, I am sad to see Walman leave. Sounded like he was doing good things for the community of Detroit. Yzermanā€¦ you have my attention šŸ˜³

  7. Keep trusting that yzerplan!!! Lol. One of these years you will make the playoffs just not this one. This guy is too cocky with zero to brag about as a gm. Load

  8. In a way it kind of sucks but Stevie Y is brilliant and heā€™s definitely got something up his sleeve something big

  9. Yzerman is going to use those 'future considerations' plus giving up the 15th 1st round and probably a player or two, to trade for the #1 pick overall from San Jose, maybe? lol who knows, crazy.

  10. Edvinson proved he was top 4 material last year, not a fan of chairot but heā€™s serviceable, and William wallanders ready for a look at the nhl level. Although I wish we didnā€™t have to give up a 2nd to unload walman, something seemed like it soured with him and the coaching staff over the course of the season last year. Still hoping we can sign ghost to a reasonable contract but in my eyes walman was the odd man out not to mention we got him for Pennys on the dollar to begin with. Detroit fans over-reacting way too hard at this deal we need cap space for mo, Raymond, and hopefully a good free agent or possibly a trade.

  11. Did Yzerman just tank the value of Montrealā€™s prospect D-corps that they need to trade?

  12. Not great explanation bud, he just swapped prospects and cleared 3.4m. Stevey is clearing cap now we just better get an impact player

  13. Maybe the Sharks were considering moving back from pick 14, and this is insurance that the Red Wings do not get jumped in front of and lose the player they want. There could be a pick swap unless a player like Yakumchuk falls. Or this favor could be associated with the favor the Rangers owe the Sharks for signing Goodrow

  14. I just wanna know the guy we get from the Peds is he good? And please donā€™t use that Walman cap space to sign another D not even Ghost.

  15. Remember. Walman became expendable when edvinson arrived. Walman was a healthy scratch for the final 6 games. If this trade would have been with holl they would have had to retain and/or add. This was a simple way to clear cap. I wonā€™t say Iā€™m the biggest fan of the trade on its face, but itā€™s far from the end of the world

  16. Kiiskinen will most likely never make the NHL. The end result is a trade of a solid NHL defender and a solid defensive prospect for no reason other to clear up 3.4 mill so the he can sign Ghost at 5 or 6 mill. The odds are that nothing will happen down the road to make this particular scenario go down in the record books as a genius move. Dude was one of the greatest players of his time period. Now he's quite questionable in his current role to say the least.
