  1. I'm so happy Steve is finally being a voice of reason within Leafs Nation. I can't tell you how insufferable it was to hear "This is our year" every year when you had won nothing, every year…

  2. At the time I wanted to sign him. He was heart and sole. I knew the risks of his age and some injury stuff but he was mr fix it. His versatility was undeniable. He’s exactly what we needed when he was here. But that being said. NO ONE saw this coming. Guy has been beyond anything anyone predicted and it couldn’t happen to a better guy

  3. Hyman in 32 playoff games with the leafs he had 5 goals and 8 assists while getting topline minutes. before this playoffs in 60 playoff games he has 19 goals. 16 goals this playoffs almost equals that. Guys like Hyman have to get the good bounces to score that's why last year he had 3 goals and the year before 11 goals.

  4. Hindsight Is great! I always loved Hyman's game. And still do. But at the time his new contract seemed expensive. Obviously I wish he was In To. now but enough Is enough…stop. And playing with McDavid does not hurt either.

  5. Why should they have kept him? Hyman hasn't won anything either…

What kind of question is this??? Of course keeping Hyman would've been the right move.

  6. How much of anything they all said in this video will be remembered when the new season starts and the Leafs go 5-1-1 to start the season? How much of it will be remembered when they lose again in the first Round? What will be remembered?

  7. Look at all the recent past leafs finding succes. How many times have recents leafs been mentioned in the stanley cup final.

  8. But, mathews will mcdavid the leafs… I think this next season they are conference if not cup final.

  9. Unpopular opinion but what if the Leaf's just re-sign Marner and then just tank for 1-2 seasons to bolster their D. you leave the forward core (which is great in my opinion). Tavares comes off the books or re-signes for a lower AAV and you have the freedom to add to the team after that point. Another thing to note is that the Leaf's are in a division that has had 7 teams make it to the finals in the last 6 years. it's easily the toughest division so maybe waiting would reduce the stress from the division.

  10. It’s easy to say with hindsight that the leafs should have kept Hyman but shortly after he left, leafs fans were happy to save the 5 million and bunting was covering his spot fine enough. No one thought Hyman would be a 50 goal scorer

  11. Oh let it go already. I don’t care about Hyman. He had one great year. He is what now in his 30’s? Enough. Don’t care.

People seem to be oblivious to the fact that because Oilers are in a crappy division and got to play 3rd string and backup goalies not vezina candidates it’s easier to score in post season. It’s almost like people are too dense to understand Hyman wouldn’t have scored at will against top defensive teams. Kind of what happened against Florida where he had one single goal? And by the way McDavid was invisible for most of the FLA series as well. Florida had two garbage games but when they played their best McDavid was totally ineffective and Marner-like in his impact. I watched the games he had almost no impact on the outcome in games 1-3 or final games where the outcome actually mattered. When the series was on the line the Oilers offense was non existent. Kind of what the Leafs have to deal with every year when they play against elite playoff defensive teams. Oilers had no business winning this series but Florida took their foot off the gas. They were outscored 11-4 games 1-3 where the series was decided. I was not surprised at all FLA won game 7. They just had to play their A game.

  12. No.
Hyman would not be getting as many goals with selfish players like Matthews and Nylander on the team. Hyman's a great fit on the Oilers. Hopefully his level of play and health can keep up with his contract though.

  13. Is this a rhetorical question ?A question that is how old now.
Let me see keeping Marner but letting Hyman walk for nothing ..
Gave Marner a no move no trade contract and if that was the issue they didnt resign him , Hyman has rubbed a lot of salt in that open sore.
How many goals point has Hyman registerrf in the playoffs compared to Marner? How many goals compared to Marner?
Hyman better overal player than Marner

  14. I'll be willing to bet that Steve doesn't know that the phrase 'those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it' is from George Santayana's Life of Reason, 1905. Lesson concluded.
    And I miss Zack.

  15. Looking over Hyman’s stats got me thinking. Screw the leafs ! Go watch your local OHL team. Make a whole weekend of it if you have to travel a bit and get a motel with the boys and hit up a bar afterwards. Get that steak dinner. After it’s all said and done it’ll still be cheaper than a pair of leaf tickets. Toss in a jersey while you’re at it 👍

  16. Part of the reason Hyman's numbers look so good now is because he's on a line with the most offensively-talented player in the world, and on the powerplay with arguably the two most offensively-talented players in the world. His production wouldn't have been the same in Toronto.

  17. I don’t get it. The reason the leafs lost these players is because they signed John Tavares. Don’t understand how you guys never bring that up, it’s mind boggling to me. We signed J.T. for 11 million and we did not need him. Did you think after that the other players would take less? What has J.T. done for this team? You guys keep calling out mitch? Austin 13.5 million has never scored in a game 7 and anybody who plays on JT’s line slumps. The J.T. signing destroyed this team. You guys have a weird crush on J.T. and Auston.

  18. It's revisionist history now.

At the time it was very understandable why they let him go

  19. Also you will never win with Auston, he is soft example(he hangs out with just breiber) wow! He is selfish cared mor about 79 than he did getting ready for playoffs. He is as soft as a soup sandwich. He is a regular season stat collector. How can’t you guys see that??? Auston and Willy equals never making the playoffs never mind first round

  20. You guys need to grow some balls and call out 34 and 91.what are there playoff stats? Oh ya garbage. Leafs win 3 playoff games this year 2 without 34. Come on

  21. We all said the same, too much term and money. Suck it up he got better. But we're not saying the same about campbell. Win some lose some.

  22. Also are number one defenceman can’t shoot from the point. O threat from the point. Let’s ignore that too. If you guys want to be taken serious call people out fairly.

  23. Lmao letting Zach Hyman go is unrecoverable? Let's stop with the hyperbole, they didn't trade away Gretzky. None of the post-Hyman years go any differently if he's still on the team.

  24. The Leafs are almost like the Jets in the regular season, except the Jets have a slightly better post season record

  25. As a Knights fan this is like when Columbus gave Vegas William Karlsson and after he had a 40+ goal season, everyone insisted Vegas was just handed nothing but 2nd line players 😂😂. Karlssonshad 9 goals his last year in Columbus and was a 2rd-4th liner and now we are going to act like management should have just known better.

  26. You can have hyman
What did he do in the game that mattered most NOTHING

Without McDavid he simply stinks and always will

  27. I’ve been a leaf fan since 1982. I’ve only watched playoff games for the last 10ish years. I don’t care about the regular season at all anymore. I watched 7 games this year. Much less waste of time.

  28. ..a decade of wastimg prospects and picks to maintain a "core" that cannot win….this group will struggle to make the post season….

  29. As Long as Toronto has a ReaL Softy on Every Line
No Tough Checking Canadians Allowed to Star on The Leafs
Hugs and Kisses Only and Maybe a Nice Blue Leafs Tutu for their New Uniform to go with their New Mans scape
