  1. I think the Wing's fanbase is desperately waiting for Yzerman to ice a competitive playoff team, but even though he has a legendary status in Detroit, I think he's running out of time.
This off-season may be Stevie's last chance to pull it off. He's had several years at this, with a so-so record, but it's time to produce.

  2. Steve is making room for Edvinsson and Johansson to join the Wings lineup, as well as creating cap space for his excellent young players. Raymond and Seider.

  3. Sharks fan here. Just you wait buddy, this young core is comin to knock whatever team austin matthews goes to out the playoffs in a couple years 😉

  4. Raymond, Veleno, & Seider are all up, and are all going to command a lot. Raymond & Seider north 8 IMO. Yzerman wants as much flexibly as possible coming into this off season.

I also think the conversation started with a Holl or a Chiarot being sent to the Sharks for cap relief but the compensation was too much for Yzerman to consider and it got negotiated down to Walman instead.

  5. We know they have to sign both Seider and Raymond. They will most likely come in at a little above 8.5 x 8. If they also sign Gostisbehere to a 6 x 4 (which it sounds like is the asking price) they've spend 23 mil. I wonder if they looking very hard at Necas or Zegras and making room for.
Also the red wings have atleast two nhl ready rookie defencemen in Simon Edvinsson and Albert Johansson, they have to make room for them.

  6. I'm pissed off by Walman's trade but I believe on the Yzerplan to death, I have mixed feelings right here

  7. I don’t like this deal at all as a Wings fan, but that’s mostly because I love Wally. A real heart and soul guy who was a fan fave. I think this wasn’t Holl or Petry because we have way less depth on the right side and because Holl might get waived.

  8. I understand moving Walman. I think us Wings fans overvalue him a little bit. Only thing I don’t get is having to attach the 2nd in order to move him. I’m gonna try to not react too much until after the draft and free agency period.

  9. Am i being stupid, or is this not just to make space for Raymond and Seider's new contracts?

  10. I don't understand why the Red Wings didn't just waive his contract to see if a team would take him on for nothing before they attached an asset to get rid of his contract. I feel like at the bare minimum that procedural aspect would not make the fan base hate the trade as much as they did.

  11. Yzerman stays around Michigan, you will randomly see him show up to local OHL games. Dude has an itch that will never be scratched. He is the most Michigan person ive known and hes Canadian. In Yzerman we trust.

  12. that's like when I play NHL franchise mode, and I pick my side of the trade, and then I accidently drop the controllel and the impact pushes some buttons and accepts the trade without filling the other side with assets.
is Yzerman playing the real NHL on a gamepad? did he drop it?

  13. I’m a sharks fan 🦈 and you came with some heat lol. That disrespectful team that was iced in all fairness won us the ultimate goal for our scenario. So I will wait until June 28th and then CELEbrate 🎉.

  14. Heard Nothing over the last two years except how Jake Walman was the bomb. So to get the the $3.4 million in cap space? This theoretically bomb of a defender is not worth his salary? So weird.

  15. As a Detroit fan, this is the biggest head-scratcher I've ever seen from Yzerman. The only consensus is that this is just a stepping stone to the actual move which has yet to happen at the time of this comment, but it hurts to see him go. Not even a month ago, Walman was on a Red Wings podcast and talked about how happy he was in Detroit, and that he wanted to retire here. Definitely a fan favorite and will be sorely missed. But at the end of the day, business is business.

  16. Red Wings fan here. Love Steve Y but this trade definitely gave me pause. There has to be something he's up to.
