On the Jake Guentzel front, lots of chatter about Kings among the teams having serious interest. Add Wings to that list, too. Canes haven’t shut door, either.

I understand we can’t be choosy and that we desperately need scoring talent, but he turns 30 this year and clearly wants the biggest deal he can find. If we want to be truly competing in 5ish years, do we want Guentzel at that price then? We need to make sure we aren’t risking the future just to pick between 13 and 17 for the next few years.

Guentzel isn’t happening here. I don’t think it makes sense for Steve to pay the price with the direction this teams going.

I feel like because of their cap situation, their known need for players, and Stevie-tight-lips, the Wings will be reported to be “interested” in literally every FA and trade target that comes up.

Having said that, I’m not particularly interested in Guentzel because I don’t think he truly fills the role we need.

I wanna be focused on the draft, but knowing that this Walman move means we’re going to involved in every rumor is kinda fun. Or obnoxious. Not sure which

No thank you. But I will take a Martin Necas

  6. I follow both teams closely, and Canes are prioritizing Jake over Necas this window. I don’t see him leaving especially if the Canes can get a solid 8 year deal. Necas, however, is likely going to be available…

I’d have a Gentz. He only gets “was on the Penguins when I didn’t like them” hate from me.
