Andrew Raycroft Breaks Down Linus Ullmark Trade || Boston Has Entered The Chat

but let’s get into it let’s bring in our very own Andrew raycroft of course Bruins analyst here for nessen Razer as all you guys know him Razer lenus allmark to the Senators the Bruins got Mark Castell and Unis Corpus solo back along with the number 25 overall pick what do you make of this deal and how do you feel the Bruins made out of this trade well I think the Bruins did a great job because they were in a position where they had to get rid of Lena alark um it it had lingered uh a year now and and certainly through the trade deadline and it was getting to the point you know a few teams left a few options and and Ottawa seemed to be the best of them so lenus goes there they get a big forward who if you look at the highlights has fought all the heavyweights in the league a centerman move around the depth forward guy uh the first round pick of course is kind of nice it’s a no big deal I think we’ve all heard me talk about the fact that late first round picks are are what they are you don’t know what they can be or it’s a role of the dice it’s it’s the Bruins from a previous trade so uh they get that back at 25 make the scouts like PJ axelon work a little bit harder here over the next week to figure that out but the big ones you want to cor prelo and uh he coming back he was one of the the coveted free agents a year ago had a terrible year in Ottawa behind a terrible team a terrible defense and it it will be interesting to see how that plays out over this week the the Senators held about a million bucks so it it’s 3 million for Corpus Salo which was about where they were going to sign a backup goal tender um whether it was two two and a half so that’s right in that region and um Can can goalie Bob and the breu structure turn it around for for Corel who was and has been a great goalie in this league so Razer surprisingly a lot of discourse on social media with a Bruins trade I mean that’s never happened before there’s never been any criticism of Don Sweeney in the moves that he makes and I think you know people are surprised at the return you’re thinking okay lenus olark A vzna Trophy winner Jennings Trophy winner along with Jeremy Swan and the return is a goalie who had the year that he had a no-name fourth liner who a lot of Bruins fans aren’t familiar with and yeah it’s a first round pick but it’s 25th overall so what do you think of the return itself for Omar and could the Bruins have done maybe a little bit better if they waited a little longer longer no they couldn’t have done better and the longer they wait the less like you know the less they were going to get there’s no question about that look at the the the markstrom deal uh that just happened he was the first one Jacob markstrom Calgary to the New Jersey Devils for a late round first round pick and uh top six defenseman Uh Kevin ball so it that’s what the market is so anyone who like I was I was dying laughing a week ago when I was seeing some of these reports oh the Bruins are going to be able to move into the top 10 for lenus almark it was absolutely Priceless uh to think that that would ever happen no goalie has ever been draft or traded for a top 10 pick in the National Hockey League so I think the people complaining about what they got back are the people that that didn’t really have their expectations set or or weren’t really paying attention to what the market has been this year uh especially with recency buas just a week ago uh a great golender getting traded and on top of the markstrom is the term markstrom had two years this is essentially a rental call by the by the Ottawa Senators it had lenus alark signed a five-year extension with Ottawa going into this then yeah you’re probably going to get a lot more back but the fact that he’s essentially a rental player he’s a unrestricted free agent at the end of this season Ottawa is rolling the dice on him just as much yeah I love you point that out now if lenus doesn’t end up signing an extension with the senders then this could be a fleece by the Bruins Razer you did touch on it with Jonas Corpus solo behind a terrible team in Ottawa awful situation had a down year what do you see happening to him in Boston when goalie Bob gets his hands on him and of course playing in front behind a much better blue line and of course the forwards in front of him as well and and he is not the guy this is Jeremy Swan’s team this is this is the Jeremy Swan show now so he’s going to play once every six seven days where this past season was once every two or three days on a bad team where things get you give up five and then you got to jump back in there then couple nights later and you give up five again the snowball gets bad and ugly quick so I think I think he has an opportunity to rejuvenate himself and and reset himself with this organization and I don’t think it’ll you know goalie you know goalie coaches always have ideas and have seen video and want to fix and help and work on some things but I think just the the culture of the Bruins the the offensive style they play and the fact that Corpus Alo isn’t the guy and he’ll be able to work him safely in it’ll it’ll be very similar from the way I look at it as as a Yaro hok to a to a tarasque Bruins had such a unique situation with those two goenda level and lenus olark and Jeremy Swan you mentioned olark the vzna trophy winner he came in with a good contract and Jeremy Swan a little bit younger but the end of the day Razer why do you think the Brewing essentially chose Swan over olar well it was the playoff run completely solidifies it it had had the Bruins lost in the first round in six games and both guys went one and two uh you you might see them roll it back one more time and really try and get an idea but it it all came down to the way Jeremy swam played in the playoffs and his his character his confidence the way he uh deals with media just all the things that you look for in a in a starting goal tender in the National Hockey League he has and he has now proven it in the the biggest and brightest of Lights against now what is a Stanley Cup playoff or Stanley Cup champion so I I think it it it solidified itself in the playoffs if I could follow up with one thing George I’m sorry just with Jeremy Swan and the workload now that he faces right and I think that was a question mark in the playoffs could he handle every day and now you’re looking at a regular season where he he’s going to take the bulk of the Reps he’s going to play the bulk of the games he’s going to be between the pipes for the bulk of the starts um you know H H how do we is there still more we need to learn about San in terms of handling a regular season load well no I think it’s again I I don’t think it’s going to it’s not going to be 65 it’s not going to be vasileski that’s why you get Corpus Al so you don’t have to lean on him that way you’re now it’s 5032 right it’s it’s the taras yar tuas Tim Thomas it’s it’s 5032 you have the starting guy you have the guy who plays Saturday night against Toronto and Saturday night against Florida and plays those big games but you have the other guy who goes and and and finds 20 wins in a season or 17 wins in his season and that’s what Corpus Alo does so I don’t that’s that’s the other thing to this piece is that again they the Bruins from from the way I see it um I don’t think they were going to go with with uh untrained backup goenda play 62 games and the other guy play 20 I don’t see that happening this season and that’s that’s the the Corpus Salo thing and a reminder too of course the Senators is holding on to 25% of Corpus Salo salary so that’s going to be about a 1 million a year the Bruins gained some cap space in this deal got to backup goalie like you said under an extension Razer what do you see them focusing on next to improve this team through free agency and the offseason yeah they got 24 million that’s that’s the other thing to all this I and I I’ve seen that a little bit oh they save some more money on the salary they’ve got more than enough money to fix you know to to improve this roster this week you’re not you’re not going out and signing leand Dr outon McDavid to a $50 million deal there’s none of those guys out there so you have $24 million you need two forwards two top six preferably forwards definitely a um definitely one top liner and then you’re probably looking to chip off on a defenseman as well the the D has been set lowai the way he played that’s a left side guy but if you could get another left side guy um underneath that 24 million then then I think Dawn does that so but but the real Focus now was the focus was getting rid of lenaa Mark and moving from that and having some an idea of what was going on in the goalie crease and where the numbers were at and what they could do and now you I think they they really start to look to address the Floor position uh Florida Panthers are standing Cup champions Razer don’t want to get into the cup series with you um George and I will handle that a little bit later um but I do want to ask you about where the Bruins stack up because I think you know people were looking at the playoff series against the Panthers there’s a little bit of disappointment there obviously losing in that round but then to see the Panthers you know stomp on uh the Rangers and then win the cup are the Bruins close yeah of course of course they’re you know they’ve again top flight goal tending we saw that they have the playoff goal tending you need Stanley Cup goal tending you need um you’ve got Charlie McAvoy you’ve got David past I you’ve got Brad marshan you have all the pieces and a core that are there um for for a run and and now like Florida did in this offseason they changed over seven guys from a team that went to the Stanley Cup finals and they loaded up on the back in and they got bigger and they got stronger and they got more depth up front they played 14 15 forwards throughout the entire Stanley Cup playoffs so there’s a opportunity for for the Bruins to continue to build their team and and if if they’re not completely close this second they’re they certainly have eyes set on being close come next April this isn’t uh this isn’t a team that’s taken a step back by any means and Razer I’ll end on this one Sergey bosski a long time in the League two-time vno winner now finally gets that Stanley Cup to his name where does this put him in the history of great goenda played in the NHL um well like history it might be but he’s probably a Hall of Famer now he’s going to end up over 400 wins two vzas like he’s he’s there uh I don’t consider him historic by you know when we’re talking about Patrick W Marty Brer kend like though that’s a different historic number but but he certainly made himself a Hall of Famer I like it gets the yes from Razer on the Hall of Fame ballot Razer thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to join Boston is end of the chat we appreciate you my friend thank you you got it gentlemen it’s a blast

  1. Sweeney kept kicking the can down the road and boxed himself into making a terrible trade……on all fronts.

Sweeney is the worst GM in Bruins history……including the disaster that was Chiarelli.

The common denominator on the Bruins…..Cam Neely has no business being a club President.

From a GAA impact, this trade takes the Bruins backwards.

    25th pick…..worthless with Sweeney’s bungling draft picks!
