  1. What a joke!
That's the leafs. Paying 4 guys about 41 million and the rest of the cap going to 19 other guys.
Looking for old guys to play for less.

Have fun losing for years to come.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  2. The leafs don't need a top 9 forward for size and physicality. Have you actually looked at the stats and analytics for the 2nd line? It's awful. This has to be priority #1.

The second line last year lead the team in minuses – to the point of embarrassment seeing as the Leafs were a top 4 team in the NHL and many other players had much higher +/-. They only scored 3.45 goals every 60 minutes of ice time – about half of the goals the Matthews line scored. The 2nd line also allowed 3.45 goals every 60 minutes of icetime – which means ~$20 million in cap accomplished nothing 5-on-5. Offensively, they were ranked about 60th in the NHL, which is not good enough!

On top of this, the 2nd line was easily the most inconsistent in the playoffs, only showing up later in the series when I think it was too late. Nylander in particular scored a few goals after it was 5-0 for Tampa late in the 3rd period… and I just feel like that is so embarrassing to show when it doesn't matter anymore.

Forget toughness – we actually won our games against Tampa when we had puck possession and had a high corsi and had less hits. Florida tried to outhit Washington and almost lost. They tried to outhit Tampa and they actually lost. Stop looking at the last few cup winners thinking that is the only way to win a cup – it's not. You can succeed in other ways.

Fix the damn 2nd line. Look at either making Tavares better or ditching him for someone who can play with Nylander. Be ruthless.
