  1. Doesn’t play a two way game, lack of effort defensively and doesn’t forecheck.

We have Bedard already to score points whilst not playing defense. Skinner may help us with some secondary scoring but he’s not going to help us win hockey games.

    Hard pass.

  2. Love the graphic lol! If we get him super cheap why not.

Defense is an issue it really would depend on price and term.

  4. TheSeanie

If he wants some money on a 1 or 2 year deal, y eah i’d take a 30 goal guy lol

  5. I wouldn’t say no necessarily but I think there are better options available.

I like Skinner a lot more than Laine. Both are equally inept on defense, but Skinner generally plays more games every season and offers more in transition. The problem is that, like Laine, you can’t play him with Bedard since Skinner doesn’t play defense and Bedard isn’t good at defense, so it doesn’t solve the who plays with Bedard issue. He’d definitely add some much needed scoring to the second line. I’d take him on a contract similar to Foligno’s.

Short term deal like 2 years? YES! No risk. Any longer probably not

  8. DarthRisk

Sign me up for 2/$7M AAV, and put him on Bedard’s wing.

  9. I wouldn’t complain if not was a 1-3 year, low cost deal.

I think he’d take very little to go to a contender though

If we end up missing out on necas and guentzel I wouldnt say no to skinner on a 1 or 2 year deal

He’s not signing with another non playoff team.

  12. Absolutely if he wants a reasonable contract. Jeff Skinner is an excellent goalscorer to have your young guns take after.

  13. I would definitely take him, but just like Tanev I can’t imagine him wanting to sign with us lol guy has never seen the playoffs – hard to imagine him settling for yet another bottom feeder

Hasn’t Jeff Skinner been through enough in his career?

  15. HeyHo__LetsGo

I would only sign him if he promises to steam hams for everyone on the team.

  16. ogfuelbone12

Wouldn’t mind him but he don’t want us lol. Most GP without a playoff appearance. He’ll go back to CAR or to PITT or maybe to Florida on the low low to try and repeat with them

Two year deal to add scoring punch to 2nd line feels like a no brainer.

  18. Probably the cheapest top 6 forward on the market so yes but I think he goes to the oilers or another contender.

  19. YokedBrah

He’s 32, so no more than 2-3 years I would 100% take a chance on him. Some veteran leadership, plays hard and can still offer some good points

People on this sub are hilarious. “No! We don’t want Skinner, Necas, Guentzel” etc…

What’s the hope here? Kurashev and Reichel are going to score 35 G per season? Unfortunately, that ain’t going to happen. This team needs some proven offensive pieces or else why would Bedard want to play here long term?

There’s zero chance he signs with a team that has no chance of reaching the playoffs, UNLESS you wallet-whip the shit out of him on a two-year deal and promise to trade him at the deadline to a team that has a legit shot at making hay in the playoffs and really needs scoring.

That said, those teams probably already know they need scoring next year and will be in the mix to sign him this offseason.

I don’t see it. I’d do it on a two year deal, but I just can’t see it being a real possibility.
