“A star prospect who would have gone at the very top of the OHL draft had he not chosen to go to the Chicago Steel and commit to the University of Michigan, Hage was limited to 13 games last season (five goals, five assists and 10 points) after undergoing shoulder surgery from an injury suffered in an early practice as a 16-year-old rookie with the team. There are some USHL and NCAA circles who believe that had he not lost that time, he might have been in the top-10 conversation in this draft class. Then, for a time, some viewed him as more of a late first. And while I expect him to go 15-25, I really believe in his top-15 merits at year’s end. The Steel really struggled out of the gate this year but both he and the team found another level in the second half and there was a multi-month stretch in the New Year where he was debatably the USHL’s best forward.”

Finalllllllllly! we can get some laser focus on this draft, which is crazy that it's next week, already. congrats to the Panthers btw! and such a huge letdown for Oilers Nation, they definitely wanted it more, as a fan-base at least. That said, I'm just gonna continue to brag that I accurately predicted that the Oil would lose to the Cats in the Finals (BEFORE the post-season started) LOL…that combined with being only 3 points off the Wild final season record, I said 38-36-8 in early January. I'll def hang my hat on both of these calls, and hopefully bring in more predictions as time goes on! 😉
The sinister part of my prediction is that Drais will leave the Oilers after this coming season, and they'll end up just like the Wild, with a superstar surrounded by slappies. Dark days ahead for Edmonton…as they absolutely HAD to win it this year to cement McDragon's legacy. It's not happening next year, not by a long shot.
