What people like Sam don’t get is…none of the Yzerman free agent signings will be there when they win a Cup anyways. They were never going to be. They’re a bridge to the draft picks / prospects. They likely aren’t keeping Petry and Maata after next season. Chiarot will be gone in two years and Copp and Holl the same unless they get bought out. None of these contracts have held the Wings back to this point. Now…moving forward, you have to be a LOT more selective on who gets the money.
