[Seravalli] Ilya Mikheyev hasn’t formally agreed to waive his no-trade clause yet to go to #Blackhawks, but provided he does, teams have agreement in place on a trade: To Blackhawks: Ilya Mikheyev, 2nd Rd Pick, pending UFA Sam Lafferty. To Canucks: 4th Rd Pick

Listen Ilya, I’m going to need you to waive that a NTC.

  2. wingdingcanuck

Absolutely banger trade are you kidding me

  3. H34thcliff

Unreal. Downgrade a 2nd to a 4th and get 2 years of Mikheyev off the books.

    🧑‍🍳 Alvin

  4. LegendaryCanuck

Allvin getting a fourth back. Masterclass dish about to be served

  5. Bubbiesacat

    If it’s chicago’s 4th then that’s almost a late 3rd!!

  6. nihilism_ftw

Okay I like this a lot more now, given how bad Chicago is, were really only moving ~50 spots down in the draft

  7. gangstarapmademe

Allvin and company are gods. I get they signed Ilya and he didn’t work (their first mistake so far), but trades like this to make cap space when their other moves like Z and Dakota do work are incredible.

  8. Sarcastic__

Allvin about to work his magic like he did with Kuzy to waive.

  9. The chef just got value out of UFA rights. What a fucking stud

  10. schierke_schierke

if he doesn’t waive, go the goodrow route for the good ol waive and claim

  11. NerdPunch

I doubt Ilya is going to decline to waive, when his *agent* has been working on the trade.

Seems like a formality he’d waive, if this was theoretically brokered by Milstein.

  12. Dstraka93

Man please accept this trade Ilya.. Huge if he does

  13. Obvious-Property-236

So assuming this gets done, Alvin is probably having Joshua Myers and Zadorov on standby to try and land us guentzel, and use the rest of that cap space for the three

  14. We got more for Mikheyev and an expiring Lafferty than the Red Wings got for Jake Walman

  15. carry-on_replacement

Second round pick is really not good… I know it’s the price to dump a bad contract but it does not give me joy.

At the very least, it’s the last of our bad contracts so Allvin better make use of this free agency

  16. If he doesn’t waive his NTC, the Canucks can waive him and the Blackhawks can still claim him off waivers (2nd highest waiver priority, so he is pretty much going to end up there unless the Sharks claim him) and we can still trade the second round pick plus rights to Lafferty in a separate trade.

  17. kruizer28

Makes a ton of sense, frees up 5m for two years. Sucks to give up a 2nd but the timeline of that 2nd round pick, if it even works out, playing for us is 3-5 years down the road, which I don’t think fits this teams window. Gotta try to compete within these next three years especially

  18. CrayonOlympics

Oh that’s like pretty good actually. Basically trading down two rounds to dump almost 5 mil. Especially when you consider Detroit got nothing back for dumping a better guy who made less money

  19. Maleficent_You_3448

Ilya I swear to god you better waive

  20. DinosaurMachine11

We’re gonna be prospects-poor with no 1st or 2nd two years in a row, but if this turns out to be Mikheyev + Lafferty + 2nd for Guentzel + Zadorov + 4th then I don’t give a fuuuuck lol

  21. nite_awol

JR/Allvin saw the grease go all the way to the finals after barely escaping us and said, fuck it lets go all in lol.

  22. decentish36

Damn. I was worried about giving up a straight up second for the cap space. But getting a fourth in return? Yeah Allvin is cooking fr. And let’s be real Lafferty’s negotiation rights have next to no value for us anyways.

  23. Young2k04

Considering Detroit spent a 2nd to dump a cheaper and better player without getting anything in return this is great value

  24. Brown_Recidivist

if this goes down, they should call Zadorov’s agent back lol

  25. AppealToReason16

That’s really not that bad to essentially trade down two rounds.

  26. noharmantrying

I don’t know guys Mikheyev is a fast skater. We may need something to make this deal easier to swallow. ^Bedard

  27. HellaSwick

Knee healed and 30 goals on a line with Bedard incoming….don’t get me wrong he’s gotta go, it won’t happen here!

  28. ProfessorRashibro

Win for both sides. Mikheyev wants to be a top 6 winger and he gets that with the Blackhawks current roster. Canucks get the salary off the books.

  29. I’m new to hockey and a bit of a dumbass, is this trade good only because we get rid of Mik’s contract?

  30. TheAngryChickaD

People seem chill giving up lafferty. I understand it. But Ill miss his edge.

  31. monkey314

hey Mik you might get to play with Bedard just sayin

  32. BigZaddy1944

If Milstein was given permission to facilitate trades for Ilya, are we not thinking the NTC has already been addressed. Have to assume Dan is driving a good chunk of trade talks. Feels like more a formality getting Ilya to waive NTC but I could be wrong.

  33. JustAPairOfMittens

Laff and Miky are two great forwards both bringing strong defensive habits and good footspeed.

Certainly a stronger identity for Bedard and the Hawks.

Certainly more firepower (in Laff) than they had on their bottom 6.
