The New Jersey Devils are reportedly interested in pending unrestricted free agent Brett Pesce. The Carolina Hurricanes need to re-sign a decent amount of players and he might be the odd man out. He’s already accepted a team-friendly deal in the past and might be looking for a pay increase. The Devils need to add more depth defensively and Pesce is a solid player.

If Pesce is willing to sign to a reasonable deal (I've heard 6 years, 5.5 AAV), then I'm all for getting him. But if his price starts escalating to the point that it's going to hinder Fitzgerald from going after other free agents that he's targeting, then let some other team open their wallet for him. Pesce fills needs the Devils have but there are other defensemen that will be available that can do the same so hopefully Fitz continues to be patient and not just jump at a hot commodity.
