My prediction is a 3 way trade where a contender and tanking team are involved. Rangers fully clear the $8 million, tanker retains 50% and flips to the contender. Contender gets Trouba for $4 million AAV and the tanker gets sweeteners from NYR and contender to get it done.
The contender im not sure who it will be.
But the tanker looking to cash in on a favor? None other than San Jose Sharks GM and long time buddy of Chris Drury, Mike Grier. Perhaps that can soften the blow of a sweetener or the opposite – hey thanks for doing me the Goodrow favorâŠhereâs your favor reward.

This happens every year BUT there being previous smoke leading up to this makes me think that there is more intention behind this from Drury. Itâs also a few days prior to July 1st, when the list is due. If Drury wasnât looking to move him you wouldnât ask for the list early. Kreider has to submit the same 15 team list by July 1st but there is no word about him being asked for it early because there is no intention on trading Kreider.
