Recently Sean Strickland took a vacation to Japan, and was invited to spar with Japanese kickboxer Rukiya Ampo.
Ampo has a professional record of 21-8, he IS the former K-1 super lightweight champion, and also a K-1 welterweight Grand Prix runner up.

I don’t understand the idea that weight advantages the heavier guy. If you think that, it tells me you haven’t sparred an elite level light weight. I don’t think people understand how quick an elit level light weight pro is. By the time the heavyweight has set his feet, the light has landed and moved on. Yes the heavyweight has the power to end it in one punch and the lightweight won’t be able to KO him but to say the heavyweight has the advantage is ridiculous.

It seemed like a fun sparring session. Sean definitely seems like the type of sparring partner who will match your power output. If you want to throw full power he'll throw full power too.

The kickboxer practices one discipline and one discipline only. Sean did well from what we actually get to see. The weight difference is insignificant given the skill of the KB and his credentials. Sean is always busy.
hard to say how ampo would go. Sean just doesn't seem to expend energy unnecessarily. Ampo started to gass out in those later rounds, might be partly because he is fighting someone heavier maybe?
