Je l’aimais bien dans la LAH, il avait plusieurs atouts, mais il perdait la rondelle trop facilement dans les coins de patinoire.

We can only carry so many contracts and Jesse never really distinguished himself.
AmethystItalian
Can see a cup chasing team signing him for cheap honestly.
flepine44
I liked Ylonen but we had too many bodies. Hope he does well and can find a 3rd line spot somewhere
wolceniscool
All the best to him
FakeCrash
Thank you for your service Ylönen
_Saputawsit_
I really wanted him to break out for us but he really didn’t show any toolset that you can’t find on the waiver wire at any point last season.
Luckily for him, playing in top-level Euro leagues ain’t a bad life.
Spicy_Pickle_6
I really wanted him to make it but it just didn’t happen. The guy is definitely talented. Can see him do good in a euro league

There goes our shootout specialist
Final-Pop-7668
Exactly a year ago, I was fighting with other people on this sub trying to convince them that Ylonen is not good enough and he should not be seen as a high regarded young player.

Ylönen Cuisine! cya buddy

Good. I’ll always remember the top 6 comments in here lmao

I liked him but he wasn’t making it on our top 3 lines.
burnSMACKER
Hardly surprised honestly. Didn’t really stand out
SkuL23
It feels like he has all the tools but we almost never see him in games.
bathbwoi
Sucks was rooting for him, wicked shot, a beast on penalty shots, wicked stick handling and acceleration. Not much brains though. Wish him all the best
kozed
Yeah nothing really surprising here.
MSL is high on hockey IQ and Ylönen has none. MSL will give players space to improvise and make plays, but Ylönen can’t work out what’s happening around him in real time.
Ylönen needs to be in a rigid system where decisions are made for him and he just has to focus on executing fast.
Plane-Ad4820
I get it but I really think we should have a comparable player just to protect players getting playing time in Laval. Fill ins that don’t really matter with long shot potential do play a vital role in a smooth development process

Mf went like 40 games straight without a goal last season
IcyChard4
Ylonen is the first axe to fall for an overhauling bottom-6. My guess is it will now rest on both RHP and Pezzetta to compete for their spots.
Dazzling_Highway1768
He never even sniffed a breakout. Smart move by management. Continue forward. BUILD IT!!!
Muter91
He has the tools, just couldn’t really break through. Maybe not a good fit with the coaching staff or team. Good luck to him.
toturoll
i thought he was going to take the next step last season but he just didn’t. good for him if he finds success elsewhere
UniverseHelpDesk
High skills, low IQ, he was never part of the future.
Baikken
Old habs would have kept a struggling up and comer. This is a sign of ttue depth in a way.
One_Surprise_4066
So weird to have every advantage in life, but not be able to put it together.
Huntathon
Unfortunately he was a passenger for huge stretches of time, I see him better suited for the AHL or playing in Europe. He doesn’t have the grit to be successful in the NHL.
Brian-Skrudland-39
He’s heading to Los Angeles. LeBron wants him on the Lakers.
You heard it here first!
efferr
I could see someone taking a flyer on him on a 1 year deal. Would have to be a bottom feeder. Could work out in Chicago.
hockeynoticehockey
He had the opportunity. Not surprising to learn this.
VR46Rossi420
If they qualified him they would had to waive him to send him down. They probably don’t want to be handcuffed to a one way deal with him. Especially with some of the young guys like Roy, Engstrom and Beck (to name a few) knocking on the door

kinda surprised but also not at the same time.
