I love Woll and definitely want him extended but 3.5M to 4M is too much at this point in his NHL development. He doesn’t have the track record at this level to justify that kind of money yet.
Also I think he will be just fine. He's going to be top in the league
definite overpay for an injury prone goalie..maybe mrazek 2.0
I agree that he has issues staying healthy, but I believe it's just a matter of hiring the right people to help him make the adjustments, in order to avoid unnecessary injuries. There's no question that he can be a great goaltender, but the Leafs need to have the right support for him. In the meantime, they need a 1B goalie while they figure this out.
AAV is too high at this point… Not a fan of this contract at all. He could definitely out perform it, but Leafs aren't really in a position to bet on that.
I like it for around 3m x 3yrs. If he can stay reasonably healthy that contract is gonna look like a steal in the long run.
Gotta get that heath and longevity thing straightened out tho if he wants to have a long career because right now he looks a lot like Murray, (not style of play but injury prone).
And we all know what Murray did when healthy in his career, win a couple cups.

4 mill seems high for a backup I look at someone like a nedelkovic someone who can be a limited starter down the stretch but not sure if will will be a true starter ned was our starter for the last month of the season and we resigned him for only 2.5 X2

Man I was super excited when you said 3 years at 3.5M to 4M… Then I realized that was the AAV. That is wayy too high for someone who is a 50 start guy who has shown so far that he can't stay healthy.. I am rooting for the guy and I am happy for him but this Leafs development staff has their work cut out for them.

This is to bridge the gap untill hildeby. If woll is a tandem with hildeby at that price it's very doable. One of them will take the starting job like the ullmark swayman situation eventually.
