[Pagnotta] Nothing is imminent, and he has a full NMC, but word out there suggests the Flames are exploring trade market on Nazem Kadri.

Makes sense but damn would he be great to keep to lead our younger guys

Murray, just let conroy say rebuild its so fucking obvious lol
    (thank god it’s finally happening)

  3. DekeKneePulls

I can’t believe Conroy is actually going scorched earth. Keep going!

If the Flames can unload Kadri without retention it would eliminate one of the biggest risks for our rebuild.

Of course, that would also create a massive hole in the roster that would need to be addressed.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Kadri would prefer to play for a more competitive team.

And for the Flames, freeing up a centre spot isn’t the worst idea, especially one locked up for another 5 years. Really important they don’t repeat the mistakes they made with Bennett again with Zary and Pospisil.

Good decision. He’s good right now, but he’s got another 5 seasons on the contract. It’s the term that’s the killer. If team is willing to take a chance in spite of that then Calgary has to make the move.

It also means we only have one really bad anchor going forward.

The term takes retention off the table (or at least it should!) so wouldn’t expect an amazing return.

But Kadri is still a good 2C and 7m is about the going rate for those these days.

So maybe a contender will take him on if he fits their competition window and worry about the back half of the contract later.

Damn dude, pretty soon I’m not going to have any Flames jerseys with current players …and I own too many jerseys as it is.

  9. DavyDogFr

I hope we don’t move him, he can help develop the young guys. I’d also rather not see us go 0-82-0 this season.

    Yep it’s a rebuild I can’t fucking believe it

Oh boy. This could be great. Embrace the tank and rebuild.
I want a first overall draft pick for the first time in our franchise.

That said, I quite like Kadri, but his contract shouldn’t be ugly to trade. It’s a decent amount, but kinda rough term.

  12. rddtslame

The problem with tanking is no one wants to be here, and we clearly have a hard enough time keeping guys when we’re middle of the road, edge of playoffs every year. I’m guessing they wanna sell out the new a stadium when it opens and definitely being in the bottom 5 of the league it’s gonna be a lot harder especially if we do shitty at drafting and we have no young prospects, could be a disaster

  13. tristan1616

Ehhh getting rid of $7 million would be sweet, at the same time, he’d be worth keeping around to mentor the youngins. Zary and Pospisl look great largely in part of being on a line with Kadri. I think we should keep him unless he’s willing to waive his NMC or wants out

The Fanbase loves Hubredeau but I would rather keep Kadri than Hubby. Is there a a way we can remove Hubredeau?

  15. weschester

If Conroy is going full rebuild I am 100% ok with that. And I hope that the fanbase continues to buy tickets and go to games because one of the reasons this organization does a rebuild is that they’re terrified that people will just stop coming to games.

  16. MartyCool403

I would be sad to see him go but that’s the nature of the business

  17. No_Trade1424

As a fan I’m all for slowly blowing it up to try and get McKenna in 2026.

  18. Lindydreau

HOLY SHIT!!!! lol. My timetables could be it right and cup run in 2030 could be a possiblity lol.

  19. raspoutine049

We will finally have a full blown rebuild that we should have had after Iginla and Kipper left. It would be a full circle if his son is the one that kick starts it

To Columbus with the 28th, and Cole Schwindt to get the #4 pick…… 🍆
