Not at all surprising, especially if the rumors about Pesce are true.

  2. TheWeisGuy

I bet we’ll see a trade at the draft tonight. Makes me also think the pesce rumors were true

  3. pooontangclan3

This is one where I have absolutely no idea what the return could be

  4. Redditface_Killah

Weird move, he seems to be underpaid. Would like a bigger, meaner D.

  5. nostradamefrus

I understand we have more room to make adjustments on RD than LD but man Siegenthaler is not the one we should be keeping out of the two

  6. scarlet_stormTrooper

Marino-Graves just seemed to make each other better together imo. Different styles but very complimentary.

  7. corkyrooroo

Apparently preds interested. Make it a bigger trade involving askarov.

Pesce is basically a guarantee at this point. Not opposed to it, especially if we can get something big for Marino. Gonna miss him though.

  9. Replaced by Pesce and then DeSimone takes Brendan Smith’s spot. Hamilton is already in there so I didn’t forget about him, they probably want to run it back with him and Siegs on a pairing given their success in 22-23. That would mean a Pesce and Luke pairing. Lukey boy will go off this season if we get Pesce and pair them together.

Marino is still really good on a decent deal. Pesce has played on a really good defensive team often paired with the best shutdown defensemen of the last ten years in Slavin. This might not be as significant as an upgrade as it looks. If Fitz overpays for Pesce this can very well be a loss.

I’d be sad to see him go. Really like him and it was just one bad season- along with the team. Wasn’t like he specifically dragged us down

I have to admit this makes me sad. I know it’s the business but as a fan it stinks. I also do worry a little about team chemistry.

  13. Johnborkowski

I was so excited when we pulled off the trade to get him.

I like Marino when he’s healthy. Not sure why management seems to have soured on him.

He was cooked this year, cant imagine getting a return on him that is gonna make a difference anytime soon.

Was intrigued by seeing how he would play in Keefes system, cant think of any comparable toronto had to johnny hockey so maybe it just isnt a fit. A little disappointed but dont think its the end of the world, best of luck to him if he gets moved tonight.

Heard Buffalo being thrown around a lot, which would make sense because of a potential reunion with Lindy.

Definitely could net a 2nd rounder + back for him. If so, they could definitely use that on one of the top goalies in this class.

Marino and Siegs had brutal years and are better than they showed. I am hesitant to trade Marino because of his excellent contract when he plays to his standard and this would be selling low on him. There is a real possibility we are wishing we had marino over pesce 8 months from now and pesce will be a lot more expensive.

They want to remake the D. They probably want to add sandpaper and size neither which marino brings. I am still of the mind that Keefe should get a shot to bring Marino/Seigs into his system but it looks like that wont be the case. If Marino is moved ill miss him tho. It better not be a walman type trade Marino has value if hes moved we need a roster player back.

I do like me some Johnny Hockey.

And I’m tired of draft picks.. especially since they don’t make an impact in the first 5 years.

  19. I like John Marino. I hope he has a much better year wherever he lands, minus the games he plays against us.

There has been enough smoke around the Pesce rumors, and we all expected Marino would be the one having to move, so I’ll assume we are basically a lock to land Pesce.

So in that case, I think it winds up being a good move to swap out Marino for Pesce to pair with Luke.

The reality is we need to continue to get better and that is going to involve upgrades like this where we see some people in the top-4 D or top-9 O get moved to bring in someone who better fits/fills a need.

Pesce does fill our defensive needs a little better at this point in time… the only real concern being that Marino was cheaper. I’m still concerned about cap space to truly fill the team out and make us deep as fuck if we are still going to need a top-6 winger and a few more changes in the bottom-6, while still having some space after that to maneuver during the season.
