Tell me how to feel.
I’m happy. I wanted either him or Eiserman.
Edit: oh another thing, lotta Blackhawks fans wanted this kid at pick 18. So, fuck em.
I know it was almost obvious, but I really like a big winger that has solid skating and shooting skills. LGRW
First Norwegian player ever selected in the 1st round
It’s been a whelming few days in Hockeytown…
i think we all expected this lol
Hopefully this guy can score
Happy with MBN but rather have Eiserman
I wanted Eiserman honestly, but hope they know what they are looking for.
The most Yzerman pick was picked
Eiserman would have been cool
So predictable, but rooting for the kid and hope he turns into a stud.
We had our choice from two of the best shooters in this draft in MBN and Eiserman. We took the more well rounded of the two. People here are sleeping on MBN’s scoring ability.
I wanna punch the announcer that kept saying “YZERMAN IS GONNA TAKE EISERMAN”
And I’m pretty sure he said “GET READY FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF MISSING THE PLAYOFFS” when we took MBN.
But, MBN is the top projected Stevie pick for months now. We had his name on our jersey, he was coming our way for a while. Sharks just had “SHARKS” on Dickinson’s jersey lol.
Wait, that’s not a Swede!
Wings picked?? Better talk about Boston university….
Not much can be done with the 15th pick so we’ll see how this pans out. Wings just need to escape the middle-pack dead zone.
Cool, see you in 3 years
One of my closest friend is Norwegian and her fav team is the Red Wings, so congrats to Detroit selecting the first ever Norwegian drafted in the first round! PS her family and her are big *Rødt* (Red Party) supporters, so it makes it even more surreal haha.
This place has become so toxic.
Predictable. Don’t hate it, don’t love it. Feels like another middle sixer upside on a team/prospect cabinet filled with middle sixers. At some point we’ll need a truly skilled top line player.
EliteProspect Draft Guide has him with the 2nd highest motor, as the 2nd best two-way forward, the 2nd best power forward and the 5th highest floor. He’ll be on Sandin-Pellikka’s team in the SHL next season.
He’s the perfect playoff winger with a hell of a shot. Yet everyone prefers the Sabres drafting Dylan Cousins and the seven dwarfs.
I’ve learned to not care what people on the internet think about a pick and just let it play out lol
Big tenacious winger with a great shot. Sounds like a need. I like it. Kids body looks ready right now. Imagine when he matures.
His floor is Helm and ceiling is Tkachuk
I hope these types of two way possession forwards starts paying off
How can you watch Drapes, Steve and Nick make this selection and then doubt it. So much experience, so much brain power.
Half of you are saying boring 2-way forward with limited offense and the other half are saying he has a killer shot. Which is it?
Edit: to clarify, I don’t follow prospects much and genuinely don’t know much about him. Those who know more about his game and situation please feel free to write me an essay
Good pick. Maybe great pick
I ranked him 15th and he went 15th so that’s pretty cool.
All these people who wanted Yzerman to draft Eiserman and are upset about this pick go read some scouting reports… MBN seems like a sure shot NHLer with real upside and Eiserman is consistently being called out for lack of defensive game and IQ. I know we don’t all watch these guys so go read some reports… based on what I’ve read I’m glad we didn’t make a name sake pick.
Has there been a year where this sub didn’t bitch about the Wings pick?
Love it.
There has to be a reason Eiserman has fallen this far. He was up in the top 3 conversation mid-season so if he’s fallen off this far between all these GMs I’m perfectly fine with not drafting him.
Everyone needs to calm the fuck down, apply for scouting jobs if you think you know better.
people only see 200ft player, did you know that nygård has the top shot in this draft?
Looks like he’s going by Michael Nygard btw. At least that’s what he called himself in the Red Wings’ social video
[How to pronounce his name.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DetroitRedWings/s/xrzHIj0S3Y)
Hoping just “Brandsy” aka “Bronzey” catches on lol.
Everyone saying Yzerman only takes safe picks in the 1st round has a selective memory. Nothing about Mo was safe, Edvinsson was a super toolsy project that needed a ton of refinement, we drafted Cossa based on his ridiculous upside even though he was riskier than walstedt, and ASP a small offensively inclined defenseman is not really a safe pick either
Draper introducing Nick was 💋
He drafted someone who projects to be a solid NHL player. Considering the draft position and that these drafts can be a crapshoot, getting a guy who can play solid minutes isn’t a terrible thing.
