Boston Bruins Draft Dean Letourneau 25th Overall in 2024 NHL Draft

[Music] welcome back to b& hockey where it’s always black and gold it’s been a while since I’ve made a video and I was going to have my first video be on the lenus allmark trade but I wanted to wait and see what the Bruins did with that pick before I gave my thoughts on that trade so we’ll get into that a little bit but for now the Bruins have made their selection in the 2024 NHL entry draft let’s talk about it with the 25th pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft the Bruin select forward Dean lerno he’s an 18-year-old 6’7 right shot centerman who will be attending Boston College later in the fall last season at St Andrew’s College as an assistant captain in 56 games he scored 61 goals 66 assists for a total of 127 points going back to the lenus allmar trade like most Bruins fans I was a little underwhelmed by that return didn’t love taking on Corpus solo with his contract not loving the way he’s playing right now but he could do well in our system and maybe we flip him later on I’m not too worried about it honestly the backup goalie is the least of the Bruins problems right now and they still have plenty of money to spend when it comes to free agency I will also be doing all kinds of videos when the Bruins start their signings on July first so make sure you come back to the channel to check those out going back to tonight the best part of the Len Sark trade was reacquiring the 25th overall pick and getting back into the first round the Bruins desperately need young talent and need to be drafting again we’ve traded away so many picks and this organization really needs that injection of Youth especially at the forward position and especially at Center and they check off all those boxes here with this pick of Dean lerno this player’s combination of insane amounts of size with good skating ability and offensive upside is really special an obvious comparison for him is Tage Thompson having the same size and skill set it took a while for Tage to find his game but when he finally did he became an absolute monster and I would love to see that same type of player alongside David Pastor neck for years to come so here’s hoping he becomes that another player comparison Kevin weeks mentioned is Blake wheeler who the Bruins are very familiar with another guy who took a little while to find his game it does sound like lerno might be a bit of a project in might not come as soon as Bruins fans would hope but once he finally does find his game wheeler was a fantastic player a great leader and very productive so this kid could hit that potential and that would be a slam dunk pick for the Bruins another thing I like about picking a player with size it doesn’t sound like he uses that 6’7 frame all too much and isn’t very physical but I’d much rather teach him how to do that than teach him how to have skill it’s way easier to teach a player how to use that size and play tough at the NHL level than it is is to teach them to score or have hands or have that skill that sometimes you’re just born with you can look at a player like Trent Frederick is he the best first round pick of all time for the Bruins absolutely not but he did carve out a role in the NHL he’s becoming a little bit more productive year after year but he carved out a role by being reliable in the bottom six and playing physical and at worst I feel like Dean lero could at least be a good centerman with size playing in a middle six role and playing similar to a Trent Frederick maybe with a little bit more skill but I do think this guy has a ton of potential I’m really happy the Bruins drafted him and it’s so great that we’re adding more young Talent back into the organization cuz it’s been a while we had a prospect that we could really be that excited about and he’ll be right in our backyard playing at Boston College so let me know your thoughts on Dean lero do you like the pick how do you think he’ll do and who do you think his NHL comparison might be leave that down below in the comments if you enjoyed this video and you’re excited that I’m back give it a big like and don’t forget to subscribe [Music]

The Boston Bruins select Dean Letourneau 25th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft in Las Vegas. In this video I give my thoughts on this pick for the Bruins and some NHL comparables for Letourneau. I also give my thoughts on the Linus Ullmark trade and how this trade/ draft pick impacts the Bruins organization moving forward.

  1. Nah bruh…it’s just like you uploaded yesterday, missed ya tho even so. Thanks for this. 😁

  2. Absolutely love the pick here. Thought we were bound to get Beaudoin until the Avs got the pick before us. Still, I love how they went with a Center and not only any old Center, but a guy who’s got the height, reach and can really strive towards the type of player that Tage Thompson is for the Sabres. Sorry for the rant but really have been looking forward to the Bruins offseason. Go B’s!!! 🐻⚫️🟡

  3. Welcome back!! I like the pick, it kinda makes the Ullmark trade easier to swallow. But that’s still a big pill to get down! About the pick, gotta love 6’7” and you nailed it, it’s easier to teach physicality than hands.

  4. Absolutely great pick. You figure he's only 18 and will fill out over a couple years.
    He's gonna be huge player.

BNG. happy to see your back. Are you going to do anything for the current team break-downs.

  5. There are no slam dunks in the draft. He hasn't played high cempetitors yet. I hope he finds his game with Boston College.
