how much did you so in this experience with the spear here it’s been awesome um I mean when I first landed in Vegas it was kind of the first thing I saw the sphere um so it’s pretty cool that we get to have the draft here could you talk to Boston at all your days leading to the draft combine or yeah I talked to him at the combine um so I had a had a pretty good chat with them there and uh so yeah I mean I talked to him a little bit uh throughout the year um so it it was good to kind of talk to at the combine and then uh being here and being picked by them so did you get the vi that’s the way it was going a little bit um I wasn’t I wasn’t 100% sure um but I mean I got I got a little bit of the vibe as as I got here and I talked to my advisers so and who was that Randy robai my advisers yeah what’s your biggest point of emphasis in focusing on your development this coming year and you know looking forward yeah I think it would kind of just be to get bigger and stronger um maintain my speed um so I mean I want to play play a bigger boys game where I’m using my size more um I’m still learning how to do that and that’s something I’m trying to work on this offseason so you’re going to Boston College yep next year committed there what’s what’s your next couple years look like yeah um I mean hoping to be there uh I’m going to try to make Boston as soon as possible that’s my goal is to to make the NHL as soon as possible so I mean I’m going to work my my best uh this off season next year at Boston College uh and kind of see where it takes me but I would probably say one or one or two years until I think I’d be ready to to step into Boston and so were you always going to do college um I mean growing up I always actually wanted to play in the ol um I was I was picked a little later than I was hoping to in in the OHL draft so I didn’t think it was going to be a possibility um so then after that I kind of thought college would be best for me just because me a longer Runway if I need it what age were you that decision sort of crystalized for you uh I was about 15 what went into your decision to pick BC yeah um well I mean their track record of developing Elite NHL talents uh it’s pretty huge I mean they’ve just had guys this year or last year that were picked fourth eth and I think 23d uh in the first round so uh they get they got a lot of guys that develop uh to be great NHL players so that was kind of the biggest biggest decision for me most of us don’t know about the St Andrews St Andrews program can you talk about the team and the league and why there yeah um so I mean for me it was just kind of the development um I mean I got to play 20 plus minutes a night uh Power play PK I started every game I finished every game uh a lot of people don’t say they don’t like the league that I played in cuz it was a little lower their competition but I mean we played uh u20 teams in Prague and Germany uh we played u20 teams in Canada we played all the prep schools in the state so that’s shadic uh Northwood Mount St Charles um so our competition wasn’t wasn’t as low as everyone uh kind of says it is um so yeah why was it good for you because of the ice time is that is that what you’re looking at I was kind of yeah the ice time uh we just allow to develop in in different situations that I might not uh in another League or another team uh so maybe coming coming down the road in the future I’ll be used to playing in those scenarios obviously there’s something about you that intrigued the Bruins in those initial conversations but through those talks anything about the organization that you were intrigued by that you kind of found out by talking to front office um I mean for me it was just the Boston City I mean I love the Boston City that’s where I always knew I wanted to be with my college hockey uh decision I mean I was originally committed to Northeastern in in Boston I wanted to play in the beam poot and then uh made the decision to to open my Recruitment and then went to BC uh I wanted to stay in the beam poot and wanted to stay in Boston because I I loved it so much what about just the the Bruins organization though itself what did I know about them is anything you kind of learned about the organization through your conversations with them I know they’re pretty preliminary but just yeah I mean I know they would like to win um and that was a big thing for me too is I wanted to go to a team that likes to win and the Bruins definitely have a history of winning

  1. great pick for once sweeney!!!draft high scoring canadians the rest of the draft and stop screwing up this team by trading away all our future *draft picks!) which is insane!welcome aboard Dean!best of success at BC!best hockey college in the country!

  2. He's a prospect at best at least 2 years or more off……sorry but this is what we get for our Vezina winning goal keep ?

  3. I like the bit about going to St. Andrews to get more ice time. Gotta love the scouting reports. Fantastic shot; great skater; moves really well with the puck. And all of that is positively unusual for his size. He's going to have all of the resources he needs in a hockey town that he wants to be in. Looking forward to watching this story unfold as much as I wish Dean all the best. Make it so #1!
