Holtz took way too long to develop and when he did make the team he didnât show that sniper, major goal scoring ability.
He didnât play defense or skate well so we may have sold low but we need bottom six players that are tough and can help us right now so I understand this move.

It does seem like a lot to give up for a bottom six guy. And it doesn't look great because Holtz was a high draft pick.
However, Holtz was slow and he was a problem away from the puck, as I understand it.
Scoring was not the problem in NJ this past year. It was defense, size, toughness, and goaltending.
If Cotter's scouting report is accurate, he'll be a good fit.
Fitzgerald is a terrible GM. Should have been fired at the end of the season. Now he is in panic mode because he knows he'll be fired if he has another bad year. Just flinging poo at the wall hoping it sticks. Not going to end well.
