  1. Canucks already just signed an expensive risky contract with Hronek. Signing another expensive risky contract with zadorov. While having cap constraints from a buyout of a bad contract for a defenseman doesn't make sense.

  2. Texier took time to re-acclimatise to the NHL from European hockey.
He's a capable NHLer but at the same time, he's the sort of player who could quietly fade into the ether!

  3. And if they really want Jake Guentzel, they can't afford Zadorov at those prices he wants

Just like Myers at 3 is doable , maybe Zadorov is okay at 4-4,2…..will he get more..probably

  4. Very happy Van didn't sign big Z for 5-6 million. One good playoffs is not worth a multi-year contract at that price.

  5. 1:11 Pettersson, DJ, Blueger and Hronek all left money on the table because they wanted to be a Canuck and win. I guess Podz is the only Russian the Canucks will be keeping after having 4 on the roster at one point… (just wait and see him get traded now.. lol). Some team will overpay Zed. Canucks aren't that team. What he will learn (the hard way), and what his next team will also learn the hard way, is that certain players respond different to different coaches. If his next team doesn't have such a coach, he'll have a down season and possibly a less impactful career.

1:45 Allvin has made the right call here. His instincts are pretty sharp..

  6. I'd be surprised to see Kadri moved. He was arguably the best veteran on the team last year, and I don't see The Flames wanting to move him except to move up in the draft. But I doubt Kadri would accept a trade unless it was to a contender. And none of the current contenders have a top 10 pick. So I really don't see it happening.

One scenario that might make sense, would be if maybe a contending team were to offer up a top four defenseman, especially a defensive or good two-way defender. But I don't know who would be making that kind of offer at this point.

  7. Please don’t even mention,Bill Zito, his childish antics in the pre box, with his tantrum,is ,and was Discusting,no one wants to talk about it cause his team won the cup,and the NHL,will not allow any negativity bloom! He did not win the cup his players did,and his performance throwing a fit,is just not anyone should be proud of!

  8. I really thought Texier was going to be a top 6 guy after that Tampa series in 2019. Hopefully he develops in the Blues' system.

  9. I’m sure there’s a very good reason why the Devils are shopping Marino and are linked to Pesce. And it absolutely isn’t tampering! 😂

  10. Marino's definitely a two-way D. Skates well, passes well, defends intelligently, can handle the rigor of a rough game but does not enjoy contact. Well-priced for a 2nd pair guy who can play some 1st minutes in an emergency.

  11. There are times I enjoy the draft and the resulting player movement more then I do the actual regular season games. If what you are saying about the rumors on the floor are true, this year shouldn’t disappoint.

  12. Who can blame Zadorov for wanting to cash in… 🤷🏻‍♂️ He probably doubled his value in Vancouver and this is probably his only opportunity… HOWEVER, I do believe, whoever sign him for more than 4M will immediately regret that decision… he is bottom 2 D on most occasions. Yes, he seems to be PO performer who can step up his game, but not worth that money. In my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

  13. It took me a while to realize it was the blues rather than the blue jackets. I was like wasn't he already on the blue jackets? Why is he traded to blue jackets then.

  14. Dissapointing to see 1st, 2nd round picks plus Bruzkewitz go for 2 rentals but hopefully management makes some good move going forward

  15. I hope no one wants Zadorov so he can come back to Vancouver for a cheaper deal than what he was asking for before this all ends and Vancouver runs out or cap space.

  16. Dan Milstein broke the trade beating Puckpedia by a minute, but puckpedia got all the details. All Milstein broke was that Texier signed a 2 year extension with the Blues.

  17. I don't mind the Jackets moving Tex. I'll miss him in Columbus, but I get why they didn't wanna pay him as a fourth liner for roughly 2 mil. They would've lost him for nothing, so win-win for St Louis and Columbus

  18. Kadri was huge in helping Zary and Pospisil along this past season. He is a great mentor for the young players Calgary wants to add to the lineup and I think it would be a mistake to move on from him. You need vets in the lineup to mentor your young players. If Kadri wants to stay, keep him.

  19. I get the feeling like most of the Blue Jackets roster could use a change of scenery. Don Waddell has his hands full trying to right that ship in Columbus.

  20. I would have liked to see Zadorov stay in Van but you can't pay someone for what they aren't and I don't think he's a top 4 defenceman. Hopefully the Canucks can still add size to their D and bottom 6 forwards, they really need it – especially in the playoffs.
