It’s #NHLDraft day and trades are happening with rumours flying left, right and centre. Are the Carolina Hurricanes looming in on Jake Guentzel? Are the Canucks out? There are reports that Sam Reinhart is likely to re-sign in Florida, but if he does hit the market and the Canucks lose out on Guentzel, Patrik Allvin is going to reach out to Reinhart’s camp. The one thing I think about Zadorov is that if another team signs him for a boatload of money, the Canucks might be able to circle back in a season or two if it’s not working out wherever he goes and they may be able to trade for him with salary retained
Zadorov at 5.3 x 5 is ridiculous. He averaged 17:04 time on ice this season. Can't pay journeyman big money because they are big and tough.
As for Alvin saying they need to find the next Joshua… they still want to find the next Joshua. That wasn't about Joshua himself it was a success story that he wants more of.
if we could manage to get Marino and sign Dillon to a good deal we'll be fine without Zadorov. Marino could pair with Hughes and Hronek could drive his own pairing
Should never have signed Myers because if we lose Zadorov who is probably only 2m more it will be a huge blow to the team and it will be another waste of picks like Lindholm.
Zadorov is worth every penny at even 5.5m he's a massive beast that wears down opponents bodies and minds especially in the playoffs which is great, he's a top 4 talent which Soucy or Myers aren't, showed hes a great puck mover and can score massive playoff goals when needed outscoring Hughes and everyone else. Its also extremely valuable on a soft team with soft kids to have an menacing enforcer that scares anyone from messing with the kids possibly injuring them.
Zadorov will only get better imo with top 4 ice time where as Myers and Soucy get worse so it's a massive slipup losing this strong character player and teammate.
If they're stupid enough to let an very underrated and getting better Zadorov go they better sign Tanev because if you're hoping Myers and Soucy are top 4 defenders it would be crackhead thinking. The Canucks have them in the top 4 the team might not even make the playoffs.

You trade Demko. Paying a 30+ goalie that is injured EVERY YEAR..and has had continuous major knee and hip injuries… is a huge mistake. You continue to develop Silovs this year and trade Demko next summer and hope he still has value after this coming years annual injury.
Depth is everything. If the Canucks got Guentzel, they'd have almost nothing left for anyone else. I'd look at another Jake, DeBrusk to play with Pettersson. He's physical, plays a Tocchet style of game and is basically a perennial 20 goal scorer. He'd be perfect to dig pucks out for Elias and has some finish around the net. He also wouldn't cost a ton of money. Then they can go out and get guys like Pesce, Dillon and Toffoli to round out the roster. I'd rather have the depth than one elite player that screws up the cap.
Look, I like Zadorov as much as the next person, but if he's demanding $5M+, that is too much.
