Boston Bruins Select Dean Letourneau in the first round

what’s up Bruins fans I’m here to give you the latest info on your beloved Boston Bruins today’s video is about the Boston Bruins first round selection of Dean lero let’s jump into [Applause] it with the 25th pick in the 20124 NHL entry draft the Boston Bruins selected Dean lerno from St Andrew’s College laterno isn’t your prototypical first round either he’s forged a different path to get where he is St Andrews college is a prep school in Aurora Ontario and not the CHL or a US College the 67 Center was originally drafted by Owen s of the Ontario hockey league but chose to go to St Andrew’s college instead even though his dream growing up in Canada was to play in the OHL St Andrews College though has produced a first round pick in the NHL entry draft every year since 2017 which is more than the qmg AHL last year at St Andrews College he played 56 games scoring 61 goals and racking up 66 assists for 127 points some Scouts have knocked him for not playing at a higher level last year but lerno said he wanted ice time and the chance to develop as a player before making the jump to a higher level Elite Prospect says lero is gigantic but contrary to other players his size he doesn’t feel like he’s trapped in his own body he moves quite freely especially because he uses his crossover techniques to avoid the long slower strides and there’s an upper body lower body separation and some agility a lot of his offense consists of downhill attacks where he surveys pressure drives the net with range and size or leverages the attention he receives to find open teammates with Wilson Smith committing to play with San Jose next year it leaves a big hole down the middle for Boston College lerno is committed to Boston College next year and will be given every opportunity to fill the void they have at Center Boston College is coached by Greg Brown who is one of the smartest coaches in all of college hockey so not only will lero be be playing for one of the best systems for development in all of college hockey but he will have the one of the best coaches in all of college hockey Dean couldn’t have asked for a better fit to develop as a player as with all prospects Scouts can’t help but compare them to another player and they’re already labeling him t Thompson 2.0 he’s a hell of a player and he’s really creating a lot of Buzz I call him Tage Thompson 2.0 leveland dangi a skills coach at St Andrew’s college is told Scott wheeler of the athletic his skating his shot and the way he can control the puck in a tight for a guy at 6′ 7 or 6’8 is crazy if the Bruins found themselves another Tage Thompson they will have a hit a home run with this pick is lero a project yes but that isn’t a bad thing not every player that is a first- round selection makes the NHL and will play in the league but how can you say no to a 67 Center who skates like the and has the agility of a player that is 6ot Sweeney’s even been raving about his shot as well lero did some interviews after the draft and has such a great attitude towards his development I’m going to try and make Boston as soon as possible that’s my goal to make the NHL as soon as possible lnal said so I’m going to work my best this offseason and next year at Boston College and kind of see where it takes me but I would probably say one or two years until I think I’m ready to step into Boston I couldn’t help but smile when the Bruins made this pick yesterday because he was a kid I wanted them to take especially so late in the first round he has size speed and skill so what if he’s a project he’s going to be part of a great program at Boston College and has a fantastic coach to help with his development I see more positives than negatives surrounding this Choice only time will tell what type of player Dean lerno will turn into but I’m going to keep an eye on his development and keep you updated to stay up to date in all the news surrounding the Boston Bruins Please Subscribe and drop me a like if news breaks surrounding the Boston Bruins be sure to check out the channel and if you have subscribed already thank you I’ll see you next time

  1. One size does not fit all. Just let the kid play hockey and develop. No expectations- just great hopes. It's his journey. Let him, fill it out himself…doing an outstanding job so far. Cheers!

  2. I like what I’m hearing about the young man. Let him develop and see what he brings in 2027. It’s exciting just to have a first round selection.

  3. Thrilled. They can start working with him right away at Boston College. He's essentially a quasi undrafted player – love the undrafted guys.

Fans need to understand some of this hype around some of these players – you don't want the ones that have already peaked.. but the ones that are surging. We call them "coachable."

There's nothing more difficult than trying to coach a hot shot kid who thinks they know it all or comes into the league with bad habits.

Sennecke going sooner than later was not a surprise to this fool. He's a surging player. At the right time and the right place

We signed Bobby Orr out of Ontario at 12 years old!

  4. finally sweeney gets it right.picks a high scoring,big,no.1 center then next pick fudges it completely, taking a defenseman.they need offense sweeney you putz!-take all canadian forwards.back to hating you.
