Sad to see Cotter leave. Holtz should be good for us and I’m guessing NJ wanted to offload Schmidt (who’s serviceable) in a deal thus why we traded Thompson, who might’ve also requested a trade

This takes a bit of sting out of shipping Thompson for peanuts. Schmid is decent enough, and Holtz is a straight upgrade over Cotter IMO.

I like the trade, but why not someone who actually costs money. Tough decisions have to be made with our cap situation, but these aren’t it. I’m excited for Holtz but would’ve rather kept Thompson over Schmid

Hey all, Devils fan here. I think Holtz will one day be a great player. Dude has a RIPPER of a shot. But unfortunately he’s slow and plays TERRIBLE away from the pick. Change of scenery might be what he needs.

I’ll be in the minority qnd say I’ll miss Cotter. He had a great start of the season, and seeing his juke goal was awesome, and why I got into hockey. Glad to see we get some value out of the trade, anyway.
