  1. I hope debrusk doesn’t go to Calgary. ABC. I also think the Oil would be crazy to trade Kane. Unless the team knows something we don’t, Kane brings an element that no other Oiler does. Someone else mentioned to get rid of McLeod and I concur. To be even a 15 goal scorer he has to go to the blue paint and he’s a good checker but he never touches anyone and I don’t believe either of those attributes are in his DNA.

  2. I wish Campbell would’ve had the opportunity to play with the revamped, defensive, post-November Oilers, rather than that sieve he had to deal with.
Either way, the cap savings will pay for Brown’s bonus and now we will see how creative Jeff Jackson gets.
    Thanks for the update, Patrick!

  3. Finally Campbell saga is done. Never a #1 goalie. Shame . No need would trade for him knowing they can get him while being subsidized by the oilers without costing them. Holland era is over and now it’s time to see what Jackson can do. Broberg and Hollywood are good young players. Love to see Vinnie stay. Thanks for the update

  4. Jack Campbell should have been traded , getting something out of all those free millions wasted . silly GM move , wrong buying him out . leave him in Bakersfield to get better . paying him anyway .

  5. On Jack Campbell: His only problem is between his ears. And that is not meant to make fun of him. He has the skills and tools to be a decent NHL goaltender. But he cannot get out of his own head. Whether that is emotional/mental issues he has, or whether he just needs to sit down (on a long-term basis) with a good sports psychologist, Jack could end up back in the NHL one day if he gets himself straightened out, and I wish him well. As far as your comment about him not being a starting goaltender at the NHL level, any goalie who starts an NHL regular season or playoff game, IS an NHL Starting Goaltender, so I believe you misspoke; you likely meant you believe he isn't good enough to start a majority of the seasonal games for an NHL team, and I'd agree with you except with the caveat that if he gets himself some psychological help he does have the ability to be an NHL starter, whether that is a #1 goalie or a tandem goalie. Again, wishing Jack the best. One more thing; I would not be surprised to see James Hamblin be the Oilers #4 LWer this next season, he already has NHL experience, he penalty kills, he is tenacious, and he is cheap – what more can he do?

  6. Oilers, I have to say, as a Calgarian I cheered for Florida. After seeing their disgraceful display of insobriety parade, including Paul Maurice (who I also wanted to win his first cup). HIS cussing, his public display which may have included some alcohol was unacceptable. Players with chains like rappers, some with no shirts…I can only say I'm sorry you didn't win the cup because I saw how your fans reacted to the loss (unlike Vancouverites). And I think your Players/Team would've given the Florida Panthers a lesson in accepting the coveted trophy. My sincerest apologies from a loyal Flames fan. I hope Paul Marice never has the chance to stand on stage and repeat that ever – ever again. His language wasn't acceptable, we're all not in our 20's. Please accept my apology and this Flames Fan prays you win it in 2025.

  7. No to Perron and Skinner. They wouldn’t fit in with this team. I know Kane makes over $5million a year and sat in the press box for the finals but the guy still score 25+ goals in the regular season with a sports hernia and couldn’t really contribute in the playoffs as he couldn’t play his game. Healthy Kane in the top 6 would provide 35+ goals in the regular season and would be the guy we had two years ago in the playoffs. Brown and Janmark need to be the third line pairing and whoever they get at center would just have to win the faceoff and get open.

  8. The only way to land a guy like Stamkos, given their cap situation, is if he takes a noteworthy discount, feeling this team is 1 or 2 pieces away from winning the cup. I really don't see Stamkos coming to a Canadian market, but, anything can happen too.

I think the most realistic name, would be DeBrusk. I'm sure he sees how close this team is, has his dad in local media, born in EDM. I think it would be a perfect time for Jake to work out a deal to come home, and he could make a nice difference. 🍻

  9. No to deBrusk. We already have no-hitters in McLeod and Nuge. We need more physical players not more passengers.

  10. pull a Tampa and Vegas and put Kane on LTIR; put that 5 mill to good use and unleash a healthy raring to go Kane for the playoffs.

  11. What’s with all this talk about signing free agents? Managements first priority should be to resign our own free agents. Especially Henrique, Janmark and Conner Brown who were arguably the oilers best line in the playoffs.

  12. I hope the Oilers can find a cheap value deal or prove me deal tomorrow, but I don't have faith in the intern GM (CEO) to do this job.
I believe Kane will be brought out or place on LTIR if he can't keep healthy.

  13. Want to see some of our guys come back. Brown, Janmark and Henrique for sure. Maybe Perry too. Maybe Foegele. But you can't keep everyone. Keep Kane. Keep him healthy. Too bad Campbell didn't turn out to even be one-third as good as the Hyman signing. Not too thrilled about Ken Holland leaving. We had a lot of good pieces already in place when he arrived, but he put the rest in place and that brought us to within one or two goals of winning the Cup. He showed a lot of patience letting Bouchard develop and giving Brown time to fully recover from his very serious knee injury. Added Kane to the mix. Corey Perry brought Cup experience. Henrique was a very good addition. Stayed with Skinner too. Except for Campbell can't think of any really bad decisions he made. Knoblauch is Jackson's coach. Not sure I like the idea of the new GM being Jackson's 'guy'. Don't want a 'yes' person there. Whoever it is can he/she take us to the point where we're back in the Cup final and it's the opponent who needs to find extra goals somewhere? Remains to be seen. Hopefully, we'll be 'parade' happy with what we see. And that person better really know their s**t when it comes to the cap. How all this plays out will tell us a lot about where the Oilers are as an organization. And will Leon remain an Oiler. Big round of applause for Ken Holland. One other thing. A lot of fans seem to get their jollies ragging on one or two players. But it took every player on that team to get us oh so close to that Cup win. And the Dynamic Duo did nothing the last two games. Okay Florida played them well and played them hard. But it seems like the last couple of years we've been cursed by injuries to our best players. Nonsense. Come Cup finals everyone has an injury of some sort. Hell, I have injuries just from rooting for the team. The living room wall body checks me, and the computer gives me a face wash every now and then. I need the summer to recover.

  14. Trade Nurse, the contract is killing their ability to build a cup winning team. Retain if we have to but send him down the road
