  1. Kane resigning in Detroit is the Hockey Gods throwing us a bone after having us pick 4th in 2020 after winning only 17 games.

  2. Hey shannon, any chance you could do a quick video on why organizations choose to buy players out? How is that advantageous for an organization? I'm thinking specifically about parise and suder from the Minnesota wild. Who seemed to still be cap space locked because of the buyout?

I don't understand how it's beneficial financially for teams

  3. I'm happy Kane is sticking around in Detroit. I was saying towards the end of the season just imagine how he would do playing a full season in Detroit. Now we'll get to find out.

  4. Hey Iā€™ve got a silly non topical question : would a 3 conference 12 team per league work? I mean schedule wise, forget playoffs lol. I was remembering your 40 team league video and I thought it would be fun. Super strange but fun!

  5. If you think Canucks fans are upset about Guentzel, that's NOTHING compared to Hurricanes fans. We are livid!!!! However, the Bolts won't win another cup with that roster. They're dreaming!

  6. Stamkos has got to be looking at a team with high ceiling, one with a legit Cup chance. Heā€™s definitely wanting to show the Bolts they made a mistake. He canā€™t do that in Detroit or Chicago or similar teams.

  7. I've seen reports that Tampa offered Samkos 3 mill AAV for 5 years which is a crazy low ball offer. I'd be offended if I was Samkos.

  8. McIsacc was supposed to be traded to Providence for Curtis Hall but I don't think they ever switched teams. Both weren't qualitifed so maybe that swap happens now šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

  9. At end of season I thought Kane would leave for sure… now that he's back, I could definitely see us really pushing for Stammer and him seeing the opportunity to play with Kane as a draw. Plus familiarity with coach Lalonde

  10. I deleted my previous Jake comment which was meant as sarcasm in this attempt to be clear.

Jake G has never played without Sid.
Sid has a history of making his wingers BETTER.
Those wingers don't do so well without Sid.
We will see how Jake does without Sid.
And TBL, don't kid yourself, Point is NOT Sid. Even at his current age, Sid is a better player.

Jake did nothing to help Carolina get to the next level.
Jake is a defensively responsible scoring winger, a little undersized, but he does NOT drive the play.
And likely he would have been of little use against FLA, if CAR had actually made it by the defensively challenged NYR, who stayed alive solely on Shesterkin's GT acrobatics.

There is a long standing thing in the NFL about team culture, which is making it's way into the NHL.
It was at the heart of FLA trading for Big Walt Junior (aka MattKaChuck).
It's what TML keeps talking about since 1967.
It's what got VGK by EDM last year when Scoring C Jack Eichel turned himself into a Selke C to shut down CMD.
Trading Team Captain Heart and Soul Stamkos for a Scoring RW is a culture change in the WRONG direction, imo.
But I understand TBL is in the same rushed timeframe as PIT. TBL's window lasts only as long as Kuch, Hedman and Vassy are at the top of their game. When they start to fade, TBL's window is closed, Coop likely moves on, and TBL becomes the current CBH.
Turns out replacing the Toews, young Patrick Kanes, and Duncan Keiths of the NHL ain't that easy.
Fantasy stats are easy to replace.
    Championship mentalities are not.

But good luck in TBL anyway, Jake.

  11. Kane contract has bonuses. Per sources:

    $4M base [24-25 cap hit: $4M AAV]

    $1.5M at 10 games

    $250k at 60 games

    $500k if they make playoffs

$250k for 60 points AND playoffs.

    Total is $6.5M

  12. 1 year with $4 million base. Chance to earn $2.5 million more in bonuses. Great deal for Detroit and for Kane! Hopefully, he only agreed to sign with Detroit knowing they will be improving the roster more than they did last year, and that means bringing Stamkos in!

  13. My friend got me into the Red Wings and Hockey a couple years ago. He also told me about your channel here. Love it. šŸ˜Š

  14. Still hoping Stamkos comes to the Hawks, doubt it, since I wouldn't want to pay him 10M per year or even 8M per year for more than 2 or 3 years. But him playing with Bedard would be awesome.

  15. More highlight reel goals,
And puck shuffling sleight of hand
    — Showtime stays a WingšŸ’šŸŽ‰!

  16. Please if possible update Marchessault and with the signing today does TBL still try and sign Stamkos and who will replace Sergachev? Thanks Shannon

  17. Canucks had the chance to ship a draft pick to negotiate with Guentzel before FA but didn't. We have no reason to be mad…

  18. Im a Capitals fan who watches his fair share of Hershey Bears games, and I could have sworen Frank had had a sort stint with games played with the Capitals… But I'm wrong. He wasn't played a game, and I find that to be pretty surprising.

  19. As strange as it will be seeing Stamkos in a jersey that's not Tampa's, I suppose it's not a complete disaster for the team. Didn't he play in only 1 game in that first Stanley Cup run in their back to back cups?

  20. If both sides are happy at 4m/1yr for Kane I'm happy to have him stay, and hopefully continue. I kind of love this as someone probably searching for a cup contender. It's a competitive contract on both sides. LGRW Playoffs time.
