Jake Debrusk’s time in Boston is over? | Boston Bruins News

what’s up Bruins fans I’m here to give you the latest info on your beloved bosson Bruins today’s video I’m going to recap sween’s media availability two players have been named to the four nations cup and allmark speaks to what chaos about the trade from [Applause] Boston our first story is Don Sweeney spoke to the media for the first time since breakup day and shed some light on some key issues moving forward for the Boston Bruins and what looks like to be the end of Jake debrusk in a Bruins jersey with regards to De Brusque Sweeney said we have been in negotiations with Jake we haven’t had any productive talks in quite some time but at the end of the day that’s his prerogative to see what July 1st brings for him that to me sounds like Jake debrusk isn’t willing to come down to what the Boston Bruins are offering and will not be returning to the Boston Bruins de bruss statistically had one of his worst seasons in the black and gold last year but was one of their best players in the playoffs this was one of the first seasons in the NHL where he didn’t get a chance to play with either David Cree or Patrice berson I feel like Jake debrusk is looking for somewhere north of 7 million per season I doubt the Bruins are willing to go there at all we’ll see on July 1 but the rumors are already swirling that he will be signing with Calgary Flames on Monday Sweeney did touch on what will happen with the go tender situation moving forward as well he mentioned it’s a priority for us to continue to have discussions necessarily to get Jeremy under contract Sweeney said during his preseason draft press conference on Thursday we’ll continue to do that and we’ve been doing that and we’ll hopefully find it in its due course because that’s a priority I have no doubt that the Bruins will come to terms with Jeremy Swan before the season starts and I think that Nashville might have helped them Nashville sign UC Saros to an 8-year extension this week at 7.74 million aav speculation that San’s number will start with an eight but now with s’s contract I feel confident it actually will belate I think that the contract will be done before training camp or even sooner Sweeney also mentioned brandan busy during the immediate availability and had this to say about the young goenda and in this sense you know he’s paid his dues he wants an opportunity in the National Hockey League if he beats out in this case in all likelihood yonas then we’ll have to give him an opportunity he later compared what Matthew ptra and Johnny beer did last year making it out of camp and sounds like busy will get every opportunity to do the same if busy does make the club that means newly acquired Corel doesn’t and he’s going to be moved to Providence Sweeney did offer more insight into the corporel trade as he was talking about how goalie Bob worked with him in La my guess is that goalie Bob speaks highly of him and the Bruins think they might have stole him from Ottawa but only time will tell Sweeney briefly touched on their plans for free agency as well during the availability and said we’d like to deepen the middle of the ice with us so that’s where we’ve been focused on trying to have those talks with our group to say okay well who would be that guy and then make hopefully the pitch at the right time that we can add a player of that nature Sweeney spoke that they would like to get some help on the back end as well which is what most people have been saying is their other Target I would think their main target is Elias lolm which every media that is saying looks to be a Boston Bruin already Pete Blackburn from what chaos podcast made a pretty bold statement about it as well he put I’ve never been so certain of anything in my life that Elias lolm is going to be a Boston Bruin if lolm doesn’t end up a bruan all of NHL media will be shocked and wrong I think they continue to make this assumption because it makes sense for Boston to go after him he plays a two-way game and Boston has a huge hole down the middle with regards to defenseman they will go after that is anyone’s guess at this point because I haven’t heard or read anyone linked to them and we don’t know how much money the brons will have left after S Swan and whoever they get at Center if I had to wager a guest though I would think they look at someone that can fit on their bottom pair on the left side Brendan Dylan Alex Martinez and Brendan Smith come to mind because I could see Sweeney looking for a cheap option unless he can get someone via trade in other news Team USA and Team Canada have announced some of the first names of players for the four nations cup Brad Marian has been named to Team Canada and Charlie makoy has been named to Team USA I was kind of shocked that both of these players were part of the first six to be named to their teams but they shouldn’t have been both players have been strong during their International play and are near the top of their position in the NHL the four nations cup will be held instead of the All-Star Game this year and have Canada US Sweden and Finland play against each other in Boston and Montreal as the host cities David Pastak has made it clear he’s disappointed that he isn’t going to be playing in this tournament but I’m sure he will be cheering on his teammates I would expect Jeremy Swan and hampus lolm to be named to their International Teams as well before the start of the Season our last story is lenus allmar appeared on the what chaos podcast and shed some light on the trade to the Ottawa Senators and he didn’t hold back lenus touched on what he went through mentally knowing he was on the trade block during the season and what it did to him he spoke about what he thought would be his last game as a bruin during the regular season against the emont Oilers and how badly he wanted to win that game here’s the clip just out of curiosity what was mentally what was easier being in season with the trade stuff around you or offseason because you know during the off season it’s not really like a rout necessarily like a routine that can distract you and you can kind of just push through it I would assume so I’m just curious about that side from your end offseason was easier okay a lot easier but also comes down that I this was during the season was my first time being on the trade block so I didn’t I didn’t know what to do with all my emotions and how to handle it even though that I spoke you know openly there was just so many things and so many uncertainties that I just couldn’t control and you you just want to have like a a clear-cut answer like once you’ve seen the rumors and people have asked you all the questions you’re basically saying to yourself like just give me an answer I’m I going to stay or I’m going to leave just hit me with the with the truth now and just either get on with it or just let’s say tell me that I’m staying so living in that unknown was tough and then you’re looking at the schedule and I remember because I saw it and I realized okay this is probably my last game of the season as a Boston Brewing if I get traded uh right before deadline so the the feelings and the emotions that I felt during those times as well was tough because I wanted to win and I wanted to be you know leave as a winner uh from the Boston Bruins so when I played I don’t know which game it was I think it was the overtime loss against Edmonton that was my final game that I played before the trading deadline was actually set and I just remembered how a uh sad I was in my home afterwards when I realized that sorry my anguish but I was just devastated that I didn’t get to win my final game as a Brewin but then again I had the opportunity to stay throughout the season and get to be in the playoffs so I was very happy at that point and then it felt like no sunshine and rainbows once again when when the trading deadline was over the whole interview is one of the best I’ve listened to it makes me feel a heck of lot differently talking about trading a player because we never think what the player is going through and what their family is going through my dad got traded many times during his career in the NHL I was far too young to remember but I’m sure it was very hard on my mom and my dad dealing with all the uncertainty and having to move to a new place I understand that players now make millions but to see the human aspect of the allmark trade it gets you thinking I highly suggest you check out the full interview and I will leave a link down in the comment section this wraps up the news block until the draft to stay up to dat on all the news surrounding the Bost B Bruins Please Subscribe and drop me a like if news breaks on trades be sure to check out the channel as I will keep you up toate on all things of Boston Bruins I’ll see you next time

Don Sweeny held a press conference in Las Vegas leading up to the draft and discussed many details about the future of the Boston Bruins. Including Jake Debrusk hitting free agency, Swayman’s new deal, who will be the backup next year, why they acquired Korpisalo, and who they want in free agency.

I also talked about the Four Nations Face-Off roster and Linus Ullmark’s interview on the What Chaos Podcast.

After the draft, I will have you cover and deeply investigate all of their picks and any possible transactions.

  1. Imo it was always about the $$$, both for Jake and the team. If money is what he wants, somebody other than Boston was always going to overpay for him. If he thinks he's worth as much as 7 per, Boston should and 100% WILL let him walk.

  2. Debrusk had a bad season because he was playing with a bad center. Brad should have had 35 goals last season but he was playing with a fourth line center.

  3. They should have traded ullmark and debrusk a couple years ago they could have gotten more for ullmark and now they will get nothing for debrusk they should also trade Lindholm

  4. Up until two seasons ago, from his very first time as a bear, Jake has always stated that he wanted to be a career Bruin.
I hope it comes to be.

If he didn't speak up, put his black and gold jersey on the line to challenge Cassidy's "do your job follow my system"
"Every player has to compete for their spot every day"
While Pasta was failing at hockey right after he lost his child… With his contract negotiation coming up that summer

    We may have lost Pasta

if Cassidy didn't finally put Pasta on the second line and Jake on the 1st Pasta's summer contract negotiation may have gone another way

He had just lost a child, was losing his hockey – couldn't buy a goal… good chance he may have walked to find a fresh start

Jake was hot – he had earned his spot on the top line.

I feel like this is another torey Krug situation – they weren't that far apart… And Pasta was not happy that Tory left.

Neither was the Bruins power play very happy that Krug left 🫤

Very sad to see Linus go. With all due respect, I don't believe that Jeremy Swayman is the future of the Bruins as a Stanley Cup team.
I could get into specifics but I will not.
    Too short for starters.
His height has changed a couple of times in less than 2 years. 😏

Linus is going to change the Ottawa senators. When he commands the net as 1A, he's at his best.

I've been looking for a reasonable Bruins podcast without all the clickbait and whatnot.

I don't know why you've been kept out of the algorithm when I search "Boston Bruins." But you seem to be popping up now

You seemed familiar – and you are.
I watched your video on Bobby Orr a few years back – his agent. I remember you now. Glad to see you back.

I was a member of the Bobby Orr fan club in the early 70's!

It cost $4 a year to join. That was a lot of money!
    Worth it!

    Good stuff…
    Put in perspective and balanced.

    I subbed…
    You've got me
