  1. Tough day, but this news is great. Love me some Ghost Bear and was upset we didn’t keep him before.

  2. esotericish

Good deal. Replaces some of the lost offense from Brady and he knows our system

  3. Cinnamon_Shops

Let’s fucking go. He’ll be a great sub for Skiej. 57 points last year on a bubble team. Excited for this

I’m curious though, with Walker and Ghost signed, what are we doing w Morrow?

  4. smikkelson2

I guess we won’t be seeing Morrow in the bigs this year? Walker-ghost third pair

  5. XJudgeBootyX

Baffled where he will fit…. We are running morrow right? Or are we cooking?

  6. MayfieldMightfield

Would like to see him slot into the Slavin pairing and see if he can put up something close to 2021 TDA numbers.

  7. I like the AAV here. It’s appropriate for Ghost and not too big of an overpay for a bottom pair dman who can also fit in on the PP1 or PP2.

  8. QuiGonJinnNJuice

I like Ghost but would prefer a more defensive guy. Not a bad contract and he was solid here.

Idk. Lots of money being spent on depth guys, when we don’t have a second line. I know there’s not a ton of FA options but ideally we can find something in the trade market, the forward lineup needs help badly

  9. I can live with this. Good signing to round out our defense. Plus he knows the system so that’s an added bonus.

  10. Gullible-Wash-8141

Love this. I hated seeing him go last year

  11. MailConsistent1344

And there is the offensive d-man to replace Skjei.

  12. Minute-Struggle6052

Detroit fans wanted Ghost to extend. He played well last year and well for us.

It’s rich but whatever. We have a solid 3rd pair now and can let Morrow marinate as a #1 in the AHL

  13. oooriole09

    I like this defense.

It’s a more balanced, cost effective approach than what we’ve had in the last few years.

I love Pesce and Skjei but their new deals are a combined $12.5m AAV. Walker and Ghost are $6.7m.

That ~$6m gives a lot more space to theoretically work with.

  14. wysterialanes

Walker and Ghost at $6.8 mil > Skjei and Pesce at $12.5 mil

  15. HurricanePirate16

Yes! Gonna order me a Ghostiesbehere jersey now!

  16. InConvienantDoof

I had a non-hockey fan friend come over to watch the game, and my man was like “is that dude’s name really ‘Got’s to be here?!'”

  17. Extra-Sea2167

walker and ghost for less than skjei’s aav is not bad I’d say but it’s still tough to see the guys go

  18. Carolina_913

    Let’s goooo

I was hoping we’d bring him back. Granted, I’d hoped he’d be in a pair with Skjei or Pesce. But having him back makes me feel a bit better about our defense

  19. Sitting here, scratching my head, looking at all these people moving out and thinking how the hell do we fill this giant black hole void that we have on the blue line?

Then I see this! I like it!

  20. mindseyecoil

I’m still concerned about the forward group but replacing Skjei and Pesce with Ghost and Walker is some good work.

  21. Bonchnugget

Did anyone else watch the last couple games of Detroit last season? This guy looked like Cale Makar in those games (slight over exaggeration but whatever) if he plays to his potential he is going to be great here. He also was pretty good for his short stint here as well.

  22. I like the additions of him and Walker but I still feel like we lack a big physical defenseman and it seems this organization doesn’t particularly have interest in that kind of player.
