Well this wasn’t at all how I was expecting free agency to go

Sounds like Ghost had to compromise. I don’t mind the loss if it means we see Ed and more prospects up eventually.

Really shocked by that aav thought for sure he would be in the 4s or 5s. He did disappear for us quite a bit last season. But still he’s a good player and a pp1 qb

  4. NickChevotarevich_

Huh. I thought he would get more. Seems like a fair deal.

  5. Wow. Either he didn’t want to come back or Stevie didn’t want him back. Ouch.

kinda rough that he took a 3.2 mil with carolina and not with us but they do seem more “cup ready”. i still like our ceiling with our young squad tho but if you’re trying to win a cup sooner it makes sense

Man, I’d have taken Ghost @ $3.2M – but I also have blinders on for that keep-in. I may never forget it

Good deal for a PP specialist. Surprised we would not match that.

I guess Stevie doesn’t want to give term, as AAV seems fair, if not low

  11. FireLordRob

Honestly I’m feeling pretty underwhelmed right now. Not gonna lie.

  12. Resident_Rise5915

I do feel like they came out ahead on this. Gus for Ghost? Yes that works well

  13. VHDLEngineer

Wouldn’t be surprised if term was our issue more than AAV

  14. needuhlife19

Have a feeling term was the biggest factor for Ghost and not sure we could afford to keep him for 3 years. Really gonna miss Ghost, but crazy we couldn’t quite get closer to what he wanted. Can’t blame the guy for some stability in his career.

  15. The_ManWithNoName

I have a feeling he priced himself out of market and realized he wasn’t getting what he wants and settled for this.

  16. Environmental_Arm_27

Yea sucks the AAV is so low, but I can imagine term was the issue.

  17. Unstep-in-Time

I don’t see what the loss is – Ghost was a defensive libability. Fans complain all year about shitty defense yet they want the same shitty defense.

I’ll remember his jump stop to save us at seasons end but we need to improve the backend.

  18. Ohhellnowhatsupdawg

His defensive game is bad so this seems pretty reasonable. Seider can do everything Ghost does on the PP, but better. He should’ve been on the PP1 all last season.

  19. Slow_Significance329

3.2 a year!?! Man, wtf are we doing. This is really underwhelming

  20. It’s easy to say “I can’t believe we couldn’t match that” and forget that there could be other factors at play. Maybe Ghost didn’t want to sign with us? Maybe the FA market wasn’t as hot as he thought and he had to settle a bit? Maybe he took a discount because he feels he can compete for a cup in Carolina? All contract negotiations aren’t done on equal terms.

  21. LGRW_Sparty88

If Gus can play better D I’m happy with the transition despite this cap hit looking doable.

Carolina fans over there being delusional about his defense but maybe in their system everyone looks shutdown.

  22. Nice guy…but terrible player. There is a reason he has been shuttled around so much. His defense and skating had me tearing my hair out last year at times.

  23. Melodic-Wishbone298

Welp, that’s not the deal I thought we were dodging…bummer we couldn’t swing 3.2!

  24. dopesickness

People hate his defense but I will miss his offense 🙁 if we had a true #1LHD I would have loved to see Ghost continue his PP stardom.

  25. Guessing location has something to do with it. That’s a great team and a nice area. He may have accepted a little less than he would have here.

  26. WingedWheelWins

Cheers to Ghost. He gave us what he had, righted his career, and earned himself some term. He wasn’t going to be a lockdown defender, but man could he produce points. He was the definition of “know your role.” I will miss him and wish him the best in Carolina.
